I think Danny and Oti will choose the Quickstep as their dance of choice. I don't think they will want to recreate the joyousness of the samba in the final. Then, hopefully, it will get the tens it deserved the first time round.
I am not enamoured with Jon Platero's choreography - apparently he did it for their salsa. |

The Samba will bring in the swaying voters , the qs is fun excellent but not so compelling on the watch list, my thought alone

It's a dilemma isn't it! I would love to see the Quickstep but the swaying voters might prefer to see the Samba. An improved Cha Cha Cha could also wow the swayers but I love the AT too. It could depend on what they style they opt for in their show dance. I prefer when the show dance is one or two styles and not an amalgamation of every dance genre.

Just watched the AS again...it's so lyrical, exquisite. Darcy wanted stillness from Danny...it would have been nice if she'd mentioned that we got it here. People said Danny could only do flash bang wallop (what a picture
) well surely they'd admit last night was so much more. He's improved amazingly.I love every moment as it all just flows even the lift Darcy didn't like. But I think my favourite little bit is the section that ends with Danny doing the handstand (that's a rubbish description...it's much more graceful than a hand stand!) |

If they get through (please let them get through) I'd wait and see what the judge's pick for their choice before choosing - if the judge's choice is a Ballroom number I'd go with the Samba; if it's a Latin mumber I'd go with the Quickstep.
I'm not sure if they get to pick first or second though. |

I think the QS was undermarked. If they get through I would love to see that again. The Samba was completely wow and aught to bring over floating voters. But I really, really loved the AT. I have rewatched it many, many times.

I'm not sure if they get to pick first or second though. I think Danny will choose the Quickstep as his favourite though and perhaps Oti will go for a Samba based Latin showdance. Unsure of the judges choice because there's so many they could choose from. I really hope it's not the Foxtrot though because as much as I'd like the see it again without the mistakes, I'd imagine Danny and Oti wouldn't feel confident doing it in the final and I want them to go out and enjoy themselves as much as they can without stressing all week. |

I'm not sure how Darcey could describe that lift as "clumsy", it was unorthodox but Danny executed it well and it flowed into the VW. It's like when she labelled their AT "frantic", her choice of words at times can be quite inapposite. I loved that sequence in the middle that ended with Oti on the floor and Danny doing that exquisite handstand over her, it was stunning.
Salsa aficionados on the main forum weren't impressed with the salsa routine and couldn't quite work out the style D&O were dancing b/c in their eyes it wasn't salsa. For me, it was the best 'salsa' Jon Platero has produced but he's supposed to be a salsa expert and champion so it's weird that his salsa choreography hasn't quite lived up to his reputation. Anyway, D&O did a marvelous job with the routine they were assigned. |

Really hope people haven't been complacent and not voted. I am really hoping he gets through and wins next week. Best dancer by far! |

How the hell that American smooth didn't get a 40 is beyond me. Without a doubt one of the best I've ever seen.

Wow, that really does show the trust Oti had to put in Danny to catch her! IF all works out as we hope Danny really wants to dance the QS again. That could be the judges pick then they could score it correctly unlike the first time! If that happens the Samba would make another appearance in the final and would attract floating voters/final only watchers. |

I'm a little sad to think that we won't see any more new choreography now from any of the pros for the usual dances; I don't count showdances because 9 times out of 10 they're a let-down and the dancers are too knackered and busy with interviews and promo stuff to do it justice. But at least there's this AS to wear out the button from re-watching

The salsa indeed wasn't great, but we usually get a not-so-great dance in the SF because they concentrate on perfecting just one of their two dances. And I know some scoff when Danny goes on about finding it hard, but I think he really does; the fact that they were training flat-out the previous week for just one dance clearly spooked him for this week with two to learn. I believe him when he says he gets stressed by it.
I agree- much as I am amazed by his technique in the fast stuff, it's the quieter stuff I prefer, and this dance was finally one where -for me- it became dance movement distilled into pure emotion. His VW hinted at it back in week 2, and since we never got to see him do a waltz, then throughout the series he's been on fast-setting, but it was worth waiting to see him do it here. I'm a little sad to think that we won't see any more new choreography now from any of the pros for the usual dances; I don't count showdances because 9 times out of 10 they're a let-down and the dancers are too knackered and busy with interviews and promo stuff to do it justice.
