Definitely and once again they were undermarked!

Do you know what, I don't really care about the marks......I loved the rumba. I'm a bit like Craig, I just love watching him..............I thought he did brilliantly with a very difficult dance.

Me too!
Plus not being top of the leaderboard means they're not the ones 'under pressure'

Enjoyed the routine, lots, glad it's done, excited to hear what's next (ever the optimist)

I loved him as always, but then I have yet to be disappointed by Danny.

I just can't wait to see him do the Charleston.

I have yet to see the show so cannot make any comparisons, I have not seen the judges remarks or scores, so this is purely my opinion.
I never generally like watching a rumba on Strictly as it is notoriously a hard dance to do as a beginner. Lots of balance, control, everything needs to be toned yet supple, lots of pressure into the floor needed to create the right leg and foot work and ultimately the hip action, fluidity throughout the body etc. Very hard to make look good, the slow timing will leave the (particularly male) celebs very vulnerable and exposed.

I have fast forwarded to Danny and Otis dance.....

My intitial thoughts are that it is a good effort, good lines and good arm movements. Danny is creating a good strong male foil for Otis beautiful feminine dancing.
I feel he is too light across the floor, he needs far more pressure through the legs and feet to create the correct action. He needs to settle into the hips more. Because he is not using the floor - lack of foot pressure - correctly, the hip action he produces is artificial. This is clearly seen in the rumba walks he does. It looks a little stilted and artificial.

For a simple example, for each walk, you step on the beat then settle into the hip for the body action. This is more difficult than it sounds as you have to add the bending and straightening of the legs, pressure into the floor, posture etc. Really not easy. The Pro's make it look effortlessly easy but they have had years of learning and practising their craft.

Good to get this dance out of the way early and hopefully Danny will survive to dance again. I am sure that he will have more success in the Ballroom dances.

Thanks for the feedback Jennifer.

Found it interesting reading, makes me realise how rarely we've had a decent Rumba on SCD, as Danny's did seem to be 'one' of the better ones.

Thanks very much for that Jennifer. It's nice to get an honest and unbiased opinion. I could tell it wasn't as straight in the leg as Ian was describing on IT2. A little clipped as well. I think the judges mentioned he could have been smoother. As you say, a very hard technique to master in a few days plus all the choreography, etc.

For me he's just a joy to watch. Let's hope there's more. He really hasn't disappointed me yet.

At least he had a smile at her during the dance last night , there is never a coldness in their finishing of a dance, it always comes across as that was enjoyable to do with you

Whenever they made eye contact they smiled at one another, found it rather endearing

I hope he does a fast dance for Hallowe'en. Much as I dislike the idea of the theme, some of the best dances seem to have come from that week.

That is a lovely tweet.

It's Foxtrot next week and I just hope they are not given a stupid theme or costumes.

I loved their Rumba but it's the one dance I really don't like. It was so sweet that he was smiling every time they made eye contact. Just shows how comfortable he was performing the dance which is not usually the norm for male celebs.

Glad he got through definitely loved his Rumba last night

So he and Oti have the foxtrot wished they had got another one but should be a good dance for them.

What song do you reckon they will dance to?
Georgousgeorge

So pleased Danny and Oti are through. Lovely tweeting going on.

Foxtrot next week....not a wow type of dance for Halloween.. It's usually the American Smooths, Paso, Tango, Jives, etc that have more impact.

Difficult to imagine a spooky song for Halloween Hannah.......bit easier with a Jive or Tango maybe. Was a foxtrot danced last year at Halloween??? Must look it up.

Provided they stay in, this hopefully means they'll get their WOW dance at Blackpool.
Keeping the faith, they've got some good dances left to come 👍

I'm hoping they stay in and would love to see them do the American Smooth at Blackpool. With the big dance floor they could do an amazing AS.
