Apparently, Simon's souffles aren't perfect. Too right they're not, they've sunk to virtually nothing. Love that Michael is pulling the team up on the fact that they didn't pay enough attention to the first dish as he was focusing too much on prep for the main dish, and Prue has said that he was being too generous with his criticism.

And Andy and Raechel (still horrified by the spelling of that name as it's mine and it grates) didn't do much better, the parmesan crisp isn't crisp and the pea soup wasn't seasoned properly...

Hopefully it's not so close that Prue and Michael feel they 'should' put pushy Simon and his doormat Mam through.

I've never seen it spelled that way, it doesn't make sense, and I can only assume that her parents couldn't spell or wanted to be 'different'. It probably annoys her too!

Hope dashed, sadly. They won't win, will they? He's going to overshoot and get so complicated they fail, isn't he? Isn't he?

I'm still puzzling why I dislike him so much - I think it's something to do with his desperation and neediness. It's not a good look. That and being so sure he can cook anything better than anyone else. Yes, he's very knowledgeable but it's clear from this thread that a lot of the posters on here are very knowledgable. Doesn't mean they're all chefs. And even if they are, everyone can still learn.

Why on earth are Prue and Michael using team numbers when they judge the courses? They watched them being cooked, it's a ridiculous affectation when there's no guest judge.

I hope he doesn't win. I think for me it's the fact that he so up his own jacksy that he can't see anyone else being better or deserving it more than him.

Yes, there are a lot of well-informed people on here, I love the knowledge that everyone has.

I think that perhaps they believe that if they do the whole "team 1, team 2" thing then they're just as official as MKR Australia. Unless the show is totally overhauled I think that this will be it for me, the whole thing is farcical.

You've got more will power than I have! I know I'll end up watching the next series. And when I say 'watching' I mean 'having the TiVo recording on while I faff around on the iPad on FB or playing solitaire'.

And mocking.

This is still dragging on isn't it?

My other half just said 'It's coming on. I think I'm losing the will to live'

To be fair though, it's on in the background while we're doing other things.

I actually do have quite a lot of willpower when it comes to dropping programmes. I dropped Masterchef Professionals on the beeb when Marcus Wareing took over (because I don't like him), I dropped all of Greg Berlanti's superhero shows because I was only half-watching them. I stopped watching Taste halfway through as I had lost the will to care what was happening with it. If I don't like something I have started to say "you know what...life is too short to spend time doing what I don't want to do when I am at home," so that is it for me.

They would need to completely overhaul this programme for it to be any good - this isn't about cooking, this is about blinking BBQ and they haven't managed to find hosts that work together well, are good foils for each other or can host. Nope, this is not what I would like for it to be.

I started watching MCP again when Wareing took over. I'm in the tiny minority who doesn't like Roux Jr and he lost me completely when he blatantly started judging on what he expected he chefs to cook - he actually said that to several of them - not what they had cooked. Wareing seems to have recovered his good nature after a couple of bad years and I'm finding him much fairer than Roux was. Watched one Taste and deleted the series link. Never heard of the other one. I only ever half watch this sort of programme anyway, which is why I'm often puzzled as to what just happened!

I'm convinced the barbecuing must be budget-related. There's no other sane reason for every challenge to be barbecue.

That's okay - soon they'll have a cooking tent!

Will Hollywood take over from Michael or Prue?

Guest chef tomorrow. They're really pushing the boat out for the semi final.

This is just cringe-worthy moment after cringe-worthy moment. I am finding that they really don't have any clue about how to do this type of programme.

Its a desperate attempt to be in with the in crowd. Barbequeing is where its at in the hipsterverse at the minute Cika!

Loads of BBQ and grill restaurants popping up in my neck of the woods, not been to any of them - too many beards!

With you about MR Jnr, seemed a bit smug to me and Marcus has mellowed with age. Could be worse, could be Tom Kitchen!

I have realised the reason Simon and his Mam get on my nerves is because they speak like babies. It is very annoying.

Anyway the posh twosome who won the other group should walk this - they are head and shoulders above the other two remaining teams.

Sometimes I'm glad I'm old and out of touch! I can't say I've noticed any in Brighton, despite the hipster overload, but then I wouldn't be looking.

I still reckon they didn't have the money to rent the kitchen every day. Michelin chefs don't come cheap and I doubt Prue undersells herself. We'll have a measure of how successful this series has been when we see whether there's more money available for series 2 or less, in which case I suppose they'll be cooking on disposable barbecues in a car park.

MRJ,, yes,, thank you - and his smile almost never reaches his eyes. A cold fish and not the Mr Nice Guy he puts across, imo.

She comes across as one of those people that's too touchy-feely and always put her hand on your arm.

Whoa, whoa! Check out old money bags here, even if they did manage to get a discount for bulk order of them they still would need a lot to cover the series and as for the car park how many spaces would they need for filming 20? If they're lucky they'd get an hour free but then say a pound per hour? What's more likely is it will be set in wasteland with them cooking over old barrels on fire! Wardrobe will also be downgraded more shabby than sheek.

Hah! Glad I found this thread.

I like Prue Leith, but she needs a co-host with a little more about him - Michael is so, so flat. I don't doubt his technical knowledge, but some of his scoring has been a touch erratic - in the early rounds, he enthused wildly over one starter and then gave it a...6.

Can't stand Mam and Son. He thinks he knows it all, and treats her like an idiot/slave.

And Mam and Simon are out of it - absolutely thrashed by the two Scottish lassies in the semis, losing by 17 points! No close thing here.

The look on his face as the results where being awarded!

I'm so glad that they have gone (learn how to talk like an actual grown up), I always thought that Michael had a bias towards them in the judging?

Posh ladies to win although I don't mind if the Scottish lass's win (I have a secret crush on the blond one ).

Well I am also quite surprised the Scottish women made the final, would not have predicted that a few weeks ago. However, i think the two competing teams of 4 meant we maybe didn't end up with the same final two we may have if they had eliminated teams via the Australian route. I think following the Australian route would have been better but I assume cost was an issue.

I don't mind who wins the final, i like both but would expect the posh ladies to win, although the Scotts did a really great job this evening so who knows...

They sure did.......either of the pairs would make deserving winners.

So glad Mam and son are out...sheesh, if he`d won he`d have been insufferable

Hah, the Scots wiped the floor with Mam and Son. But at least he was a gracious loser.

I see from the trailer they've wheeled Crazy Ray out to judge the final. I hope he does a better job than he did judging his own restaurant series. Either that or the contestants can make cocktails. (I know how to bear a grudge ...)

I don't care who wins. I can't even remember their names. I'm just waiting for merciful release.
