Beat me too it!
Maybe they do film 4 restaurants in a night? It would explain the lack of enthusiasm from everyone! ![]() ![]()

i noticed that - I wonder if they originally did what MKR Aus does and they all meet at kitchen headquarters first for a pep talk, but they've decided not to show it. Because it'd take time away from the riveting cooking and eating.
Also Michael is getting worse at remembering his lines - for this one he welcomed everyone to the first IR of the evening. I hope for their digestion's sake it was of the week. Prue's as mad as a box of frogs, isn't she? |

They did show it, at the very start of the first episode and then said that the Scottish women were first up.

Yes you're right, I've just downloaded ep1 (I know, I know. Sad) and there is a very brief clip of them all at kitchen HQ.
For anyone who can't wait for the next episode all of this week's are available on the c4 catch up service.

Oh dear, these two have been bragging about how good they are and the judges comments are going down like a lead balloon.
All this weeks contestants are in la-la land. I would like to hear their comments before the judges instead of parroting what they have just said. Really missing Aus and NZ versions. |

Michael Caines seems to be in a bit of a mardy mood...

Wow 10 has got to be one of the lowest scores ever (including that irritating Captain bloke and his trophy wife)

Just started watching - wow, there's over confidence and then there's this pair. Off the scale. Can't wait to see them taken down a peg or 100.

Think that happened in spades, shovels and full on mechanical diggers!

It's the first one that's been any fun at all. So presumably they think the judges are scoring tactically too!

And that's what you get, kiddies, if you go into a cooking competition expecting to educate and impress rather than because you love to eat what you've cooked and want other people to love it too.

This is truly tragic. The Australian one is much better and I could fast forward it

Still watching. And to be fair this week is slightly more entertaining. If you'd never seen the original you might even quite like it!
Why would you barbecue literally everything? Way too gimmicky and completely unnecessary. And once it started to go wrong, with the main, why wouldn't you start the potatoes and then the dessert off in the oven then chuck them in the barbecue for five minutes before serving to pick up some smokiness? At least they beat the Bollywood woman - I'm discounting the husband, he obviously wanted to score higher but didn't dare challenge her. |

2 from the bollywood woman! She really is bitter and vindictive from her night when everyone thought it wasn't good. Luckily her tatical voting didn't work out as she's still last now I just want the last couple to beat them.If the boys could only have swallowed their pride and not used a barbeque for everything they would have got higher scores (which I'm sure their wives will be constantly reminding them ). It would of only really needed to be the hasselback potatoes and the pineapple cake everything else could still have been cooked on the barbeque but their obsession with with using them hurt them in the end.

Bollywood woman us very unpleasant. She marked the previous couple down too. It's not a patch on the NZ or Aus versions & as the format is virtually identical, it can not be because of the people. As much as I like Pru & Michael they don't have the on screen chemistry of Pete & Manu and the contestants are not as entertaining. Even the "villain" is kind of low key & boring. I remember the first season of the UK version a couple of years ago (shown on one of the food channels) which had Lorraine Pascale & Jason Atherton, they didn't have the "presence" either although I don't mind with of them.
So, who would make a good judging pair? I would quite like Lisa Faulkner or Jay Rayner or even Tom Parker Bowles paired with a chef. I'm not her biggest fan but maybe Rosemary Shrager might be good value? |

Oooh! Jay Rayner would be entertaining. You'd need a decent chef, ideally female, with some empathy to counter his acid tongue. I wouldn't think Lisa Faulkner has the cooking clout to be taken seriously as a judge. Thomasina Miers springs to mind for some reason, as she doesn't do much TV, but she's quite natural in front of the cameras.

What is it about these women's voices. The two on Tuesday were the same. They sound like children's TV entertainers sounding all excited and enthusiastic. We are adults, not toddlers. It feels like watching Playschool.

Probably a very un-PC thought, but watching Michael eat I always wonder how he manages when he encounters something too tough to cut with just a fork.

Playing catch up again!
The starter has just turned up late and it looks bloody awful Another example of the shoddiness of the whole enterprise already tonight, the starter was running late but the on screen graphic said they were late with the main! Totally agree with the kids TV presenter delivery/playschool comment. I knew they reminded me of something but couldnt put my finger on it, so annoying! |

Bollywood woman really is comes across as vile. I hope she has a revaluation when she sees this played back. Don't know how her relatively mild & sweet husband puts up with it. The whole thing is so much more downbeat than the Aus & NZ versions and I think that is the main difference. Even the judges are realatively monotone and dour (although Pru tries valiantly to lighten the tone at times). |
