"you'll be cooking at kitchen headquarters" she says standing in the 'magnificent kitchen headquarters'!
All this tension is killing me, my nerves are a wreck... do I put the garlic bread in for 12 or 14 minutes?! ![]() |

I've just found out that Faye of the Healthy Mummies or whatever they're called is married to ex Leeds United, Sheffield United (amongst others) and England footballer Brian Deane!
It's no wonder her house was a bit flash |

Sort of it went in a tandoori oven which I keep on the opposite side of my lake.
![]() ![]() ![]() I hope you have chilli-fed ducks on the lake swimming past the barbie regularly so they're ready smoked. It really is a very unlikely selection of people they've cobbled together as 'some of the best cooks in the country'. A bunch of one trick ponies, mostly. I'm agog to see who the world famous chef is who's judging the sudden death. A Great British Menu reject again, perhaps? Prue must have been brought in for a reason. |

I caught yesterday's MKR UK as I'm working away and staying in a hotel.
Still dreary then! None of those canapes were very inspiring or particularly challenging to make. And STILL absolutely ZERO tension or drama at all. The contestants really need better hair and makeup as they all look like they're just wearing the clothes they slob about the house in. Shooting anything outside in the UK is risky given our unpredictable weather so if it is cloudy or raining everything looks even more dreary. Shoot indoors and use decent lighting! Even the scoring round was a damp squib. No drama, no tension, no dirty looks or smirking from other contestants. Its all too 'nice'. |

Missed last night's as was at book club, but not bothered enough about it to watch on catch-up. I am now watching tonight's on a 1-hour delay as I forgot it was on (a true sign that I don't care). Is one of the 'Mummies' a New Zealander?

Why no guest judge for a sudden death? Have they run out of chefs willing to play already?!

I'm not surprised. Even though it isn't airing live thy must've been given some idea about how it would go.

Pru tweeted Michael just before the series started and said she hoped it was going to come across as having been as much fun as when they filmed it....

I have to be honest I was half asleep when watching yesterday but did catch the end with the barbeque boys going, I'm going to go out on a limb and say I didn't miss much!
![]() The high point for the series for me (apart from how bad it's been!) was the add lib quip from Michael saying that Prue was weird that was the only point that in the entire series that didn't feel wooden. |

That gave us a glimpse of what it could have been like if Michael wasn't like a rabbit in the headlights in front of a camera. And he's right! |

It's very good for insomnia. And you can be sure you're not going to miss anything exciting.

I can't believe that Prue has quit the Great British Menu. Hope she didn't quit to work on this more, because, being completely honest, I can't see this show as having a future on any channel, at least not unless they get someone with charisma to balance the two hosts out AND find some competitors who have something resembling character, energy, and an urge to be Lauren and Carmine

Do we know for sure she has? She's mad if so, unless she's ready to retire. Although C4 do tend to flog dead horses when it comes to daytime programming - look at how long CDWM has been going and they're still making it despite the fact that audience share has dropped so much compared to when it started and it stirs up garrulous any reaction. It's cheap filler as long as there are people willing to make idiots of themselves to be on the telly. So as long as it attracts enough advertising they might give MKR another ten series or so just to make sure.
![]() http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/lat...ndi-oliver-gbm You do have to wonder if she thought she was onto a winner with MKR's UK and if she's vying to get Mary's role in GBBO? |

Sereis two competitors have been found!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kufzm2AHij0 Yep she had left GBM. http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/lat...ndi-oliver-gbm You do have to wonder if she thought she was onto a winner with MKR's UK and if she's vying to get Mary's role in GBBO? Not surprised it's on to a second series, as you can tell from my previous post. And sadly, I'll watch it!

I think that getting a good voiceover would make it a little bit better; being on Channel 4 they could have tried to get Dave Lamb, but I get the feeling that they want this to be taken a little bit more seriously. I may start making this into a drinking game: every time something awkward happens, a drink; every time this proves it's not anywhere near as good as the Aussie show, a drink...

I really should have been paying more attention. I have no idea how many teams are left or who they are. I just know it ends next week.
Are they making them barbecue outside all the time because they couldn't afford to keep hiring an indoor kitchen? |

Ooh, yes, she might well. She must have been signed up for this before the news of the GBBO move broke, but she must know a lot of insiders so moving to 4 for this would be a strategic move. Not that she's got the baking clout that Mary has but there's no one else of that generation who has. I've heard Delia mooted but you can hardly describe her as a people person - she's even more awkward than Michael.
