Besides all of which, I still think if the bbc had all the money in the world, they wouldn't do it. It's been said many times when a McGann series is repeatedly suggested by some that the bbc simply wouldn't want a confusing situation where there were two versions of doctor who running at once. To do so would water down the brand and only harm the main show.
You have your on screen time as the doctor, and then, apart from the odd multi doctor story, that's it.

This is what annoys me about the whole situation. If it's as bad as it seems, and fails miserably, then rather than just seeing the idea as failed, the bbc will probably take is as proof that there is just no appetite for a who spin off at all, whereas if they'd actually based a spin off around one of the many more interesting or exciting premises available to them, and actually aimed it at the entire who audience rather than just the teen market, then a spin off might have worked.
Although, given the dwindling interest in the main show these days, it makes me wonder whether a spin off at this time will have a chance anyway, good or bad.
