3. Judge Rinder was a revelation, so unexpected. The energy did lead to sloppiness in parts. Oksana seems the perfect partner for him.
4. Ore is a fantastic dancer and I actually like him. I liked the routine interestingly; not sure what else Joanne could've done with that song.
5. Lesley and Naga were the most nervous on the night. Lesley needs a shorter partner. Now I'm not wishing injury on Anton but I think Neil is smaller

All in all very good first week dancing. Don't know why but I'm looking forward to Gorka and Tameka the most tonight ”

Snap! I'm rooting for Ed as well.

We've got two of the same thread going on for some reason so I'll just repost here what I posted in the other one;

1. Judge Rinder's stomach turned mine. Please, fellas..if it isn't a perfect six-pack put it away.

2. Darcy looked absolutely stunning. Gorgeous hairdo. Lovely dress.

3. Lesley Joseph very elegant and light on her feet.

4. No stinkers so far, but we've got Balls tomorrow

5. Really looking forward to seeing what the gymnast can do

My 5 thoughts the morning after the night before:

1. Robert was the stand out last night and I hope that he can tone down, channel and provide something more as the weeks progress. If he can, then he and Oksana will be favourites of mine. It was mental last night and I loved the routine!

2. Greg was better than I thought last night. I was overwhelmed with his amount of energy and enthusiasm, in a way that I wasn't with Robert's ironically. He has ease of movement and that jump over Natalie was phenomenal.

3. I thought Lesley did very well and it's a real pity she was not paired with someone shorter.

4. Laura and Naga were unexciting. Laura has potential. Naga lacks personality at the moment and Pasha is not the most charismatic of partners.

5. Joanne is not Len's goddaughter.

1/ I was hoping they wouldn't play up to the celebs day jobs during performances too much this year but they did so with Lesley, Greg and Judge Rinder. Tbh, I find it a bit tacky and predictable and wish they'd drop it.

2/ Overall I thought they were all at a pretty decent standard for week one but I had a few moans to follow...

3/Agreed with Len re Ore's faffing and was a bit disappointed with Jo for that. Having said that, he can definitely dance (although I'm always drawn to watching Jo whenever she's on the dance floor).

4/ I know it's the obvious choice to pair Anton up with the more mature celeb but he is really far too tall for Lesley. She lost her neck during the performance and it wasn't helped by having to reach up to Anton in hold. This partnership strikes me as a bit of a lazy decision.

5/ My favourite was probably Naga's waltz. Far from perfect but I liked the music and Pasha's choreography was lovely too. Although the way Judge Rinder exploded out the blocks was legendary

1. Two couples stood out, Robert and Oksana, and Greg and Natalie

2. If they keep calling him Judge Rinder I'll call him Doctor Grindr

3. Did Craig call darling anybody at all? Can't remember.

4. Height difference between Anton and Lesley will kill a chance of a proper dance for her. Is every other dancer scared they would catch OAP?

5. There was too much faffing about in that so called "tango".

1) Just so happy to have the show back. Claud was as great as ever. Tess, well the less said the better, but Strictly's back! Yipee!

2) Relieved Greg wasn't terrible. I didn't think he would be but seeing a lot on here voicing concerns made me worry. I didn't need to. He and Natalie look like a great pairing.

3) Judge Rinder was the highlight for sure. I didn't know of him before Strictly but I enjoyed him a lot. So long as he isn't all out for every dance, he might have a chance.

4) Ore shouldn't have been marked as high. I'd have given him a 4 because it was a tango without a lot of tango in. Didn't get the theme at all, it looked awkward and the faffing was ridiculous. I do think he will annoy me in the weeks to come as well sadly.

5) Laura was just ever so bland. I fear she'll do well but will be a very beige contestant. At least Naga and Lesley have a bit more about them. Laura I'm not so sure...

1) I don't blame the judges too much for all the ties really, I wouldn't have given anything but a 6 or 7 all night.

2) I think both Laura and Naga will improve once nerves are gone and they've swapped disciplines; I expect big score improvements Week 2.

3) Everything about that Tango was vile apart from Ore's actual Tango, which was ok. I do not want a lurid green floor, complete with fecking DAISIES projected at the side, a blue sky with the word "Geronimo" projected on it, a park bench and the bike from Anna Kennedy's Charleston all in one Tango.

4) Both Lesley and Greg were better than expected, although Greg was a tiny bit overmarked for me; 5, 7, 6, 7 was what I was thinking.

5) Robert (/Rinder/Judge) KILLED IT. Yes it was messy, and yes his face needs turning down from the 11 it's on to a comfortable 7, but that was by far the best dance of the night for me, and I thought it deserved a few more 7s.

1) Greg was overmarked compared to others. He not only ran out of steam (which shouldn't happen to a sportsperson) but his footwork was appalling.

2) Ore - not his fault I guess, but as soon as the bike appeared I sort of lost interest. Then we get ages messing about on a bench.. It's Strictly Come DANCING guys, not ..... being daft.

3) Judge Robbie Rinder - off the planet for enthusiasm and entertainment, but would be better to calm it down a little and concentrate on the actual dance.

4) Laura - a really good effort. The cha cha cha was possibly the most difficult dance of the evening but she has to work on those weak legs.

5) Naga and Lesley - both did waltz, but what a difference. Although Lesley had a couple of bright moments, Naga, while not perfect, was still far better overall, so how on earth did they both end up on the same score?

Laura, Naga and Lesley were just Blurhhh

Greg suprised me I thought he would have been gangly and awkward but I thought he was good

Ore, I lost intrest before he started to dance, it seems the Cliftons like to act more than dance

Judge Rinder, he really did entertain me, he danced, pouted and gave his all

1. Laura looked lovely but was really bad. I'm not sure if it was just dull choreography or she had forgotten the steps as she looked like she was lost for most of it.

2. Naga was ok but she and Pasha are just so boring together.

3. Ore looks to have lots of potential but the theme and costumes were terrible. Whoever in costume made those trousers should be sacked.

4. Was quite impressed by Lesley, saw a couple of heel turns and what looked like proper footwork. Very difficult to improve the top line with that height difference.

5. Loving Greg and Natalie. They look great together with good chemistry and he was much better than I expected - I hope it's Natalie's year.

I agree with everything you've written there, except I would describe Laura as just a bit dull (agree it could be down to the choreography) rather than really bad.

I was perhaps being a bit harsh on Laura - if I had to go out and do the first dance of the series I'd just be frozen with nerves in the middle of the dance floor so she did well considering

1. Think the judges were told to be nice (after last year's final?) and thought it really improved the atmosphere. No one needs harsh criticism in week one.
2. Having said that, I had Len-levels of annoyance at 'all that faffin' abut' in Ore's tango. Why, oh why?
3. Thank goodness Greg was good. Love him but was worried. He could be the 'journey' contestant.
4. So many competent dancers this year that previous fan base may prove crucial to stay in.
5. Rinder made me laugh out loud.

1. Laura might be the new Pixie Lott, bland but thinks a lot of herself.
(Nothing wrong with confidence, but some people are annoying with it.)

2. Greg was better than expected. He gave off slight Iwan Thomas vibes in the build up. Although my mum kept going on about his pigeon toes.

3. Judge Rinder is both entertaining and looks like he could go a long way if he reigns it in a bit.

4. Ore was good but as others have said here and Len did, his routine was arsey. Trying to be different.

5. Naga and Lesley were ok. Lesley would be one to go soon if she wasn't dancing with Tony Beke.

1. Judges & presenters - business as usual (other than Craig ending on a positive each time).
2. Ore annoying (him, the video and the faffing) although the bit of dancing they did was fine.
3 Pleased for Natalie to have a half decent partner (& not just allocated someone on height).
4. Love Judge Rinder - mad as a box of frogs (in a good way) and not an awful dancer.
5. Naga a bit blah - which is a shame as Pasha is my fave pro.

I think that dancing with Anton will have it's drawbacks for her as well. She will be happy with him and of course he is popular - which will help but she looked physically very awkward and uncomfortable in hold because of the height difference. Her left elbow was level with (and frequently above) her shoulder for most of it which of course made her look hunched - and distracted from some very nice footwork.

The height difference was no greater than a lot of couples in the real dance world have. Lesley's real problem was that her left hand was far too high on Anton's shoulder. Yes, technically, it was in the right place, but you have to adapt to suit the partner. Also, Anton should have lowered his right arm slightly to accommodate Lesley's height.

First woman is full of herself complaint of the series and it only took 1 show 😒

And barely justified, IMO. She looked very nervous to me!

Pixie had spent most her life dancing, and so naturally exuded an air of self-confidence.

1. The Man in the Hat!!!! Hurrah!

2. Natalie and Greg look magnificent together, I'm mesmorised by them both.

3. Robert made me laugh. I like him and Oksana.

4. What was that 'tango' about? And I hated those trousers, they seemed popular last series too, they look horrible. So ugly.

5. Lesley and Anton surprised me. It wasn't perfect but it was very heartfelt.

Brought back memories of Kevin samba outfit with Frankie - something I'd spent years trying to suppress from thought

Yes! me too. They are horrendous. They make the dancing look less elegant. Not a good thing!

My 5 thoughts (week 1 - show 1):

1. Jo and Ore spent too long sitting on the bench - 40 seconds before they started dancing, which was way too long.

2. Please could we have music which is suited to the style of the dances! The music can really affect the dance.

3. Wardrobe needs to improve some of the outfits - Ore's trousers were just awful.

4. I was surprised that Laura and Giovanni were so forgettable - I thought they would really stand out. It's only week 1 though.

5. Really liked Greg and Natalie and Judge Rinder and Oksana. Looking forward to watching them in the coming weeks.

Misguided concept, an emasculated tango, the music that makes tango accents look unnatural. And when flowers, then only in Frankie Boyle's Dalek poetry reading way "Daffodils! Exterminate daffodils!" I wonder what she will do with passo doble, they will probably have a well done steak

My five after catching up with it on iPlayer:

1) I am struggling to take to Naga as a dancer, she's a little too stiff and serious. If she can loosen up a little then she'd be great for the passionate, angry dances like Tango and Passo - but it's a bit jarring for the softer stuff like she had for her first dance.

2) Robert (Judge) Rinder was great fun. I agree that there was a little too much gurning, but he really went for it, which helps the audience enjoy the performance, and I thought he had a great connection with Oksana.

3) Ore's wife looks like she could be Joanne's sister. Similar smile and facial expressions! I enjoyed Ore & Joanne's dance despite the 'faffing abaat'.

4) Anton is too tall for Lesley.

5) I've always thought that Greg was rather cute, but he was particularly sparkling tonight after being Strictlyfied! I think he makes a good partnership with Natalie.
