Naga had the best outfit again. Oti's was lovely, and I would have liked Oksana's if it weren't for the flesh coloured fabric over her chest and upper arms, it was far too thick and heavy. I liked Laura's 'ombre' sort of skirts.

I loved Oti's dress! She looked great. Laura also looked lovely

Another disappointing week. Where are the lovely ballroom dresses? They all seem too short or more like a blouse and skirt. I did like Natalie's green dress though.

Loved Lauras dress, always like skirts with godets in, best dress of the night for me.

Completely agree with this, I loved the way the skirt of Laura's dress enhanced her movement as they danced.

She looked like a Hollywood filmstar. The dress was glamorous and elegant and the colour gorgeous on her.

The costume budget paid to DSI (who make all the dresses) has been cut year on year till they are now even resorting to buying some bits on the High Street.
I think it's such a shame but not altogether unexpected.

I liked Natalie's dress but thank goodness they scrapped the idea of having two random stripes of pink and purple ribbon as Vicky Gill showed on ITT the other night, they just looked like an afterthought and nothing whatsoever to do with the rest of the dress.

I agree. Much better without them.

My favourite celeb dress was Lauras. Stunning colour on her. My favourite pro dress was Joannes - i loved the shape and movement of it and the sequinned fire was very eye catching.

I know it sounds awfully petty, but why the term "frocks"? Didn't that die out round about the 1940s? Dance (ballroom and or Latin) dresses are just that - DRESSES!

Almost as bad as the continued use of the word 'sequins', when they (apart from specialised decorations) largely died out in the 1990s, to be replaced by stones of varying sizes, colours and extortionate(!) expense.

I think the money's gone on all those distracting lighting effects. Far too over the top.
So they cut down on fabric? Dunno about frocks, the pro's knickers seem to be briefer this year.

Far more substantial last year.

Loved Laura's. Thought Daisy's was awful.

I agree on both points, but I suppose Daisy's dress was meant to look like an "American Diner" uniform.

Which makes me question, why do they all seem to have a theme? Why can't they be given decent music and costumes, and just dance?

Because it's a more a "Show!" Than a ballroom dancing contest. The BBC wouldn't get those "X-Factor beating ratings," if it were more like "Come Dancing."

Because it's an intrinsically funny word and conveys some of the daftness of the frou-frou that is Strictly costuming

(If sequins are no longer used, what were Antons cha cha trousers made of? )

I thought at first they were made from shiny black bin bags!

I see Claudia's skirt last night was the one used for Frankie's foxtrot

Darcey's dress in the result show is lovely.

I don't know why I used that word - I just sort of like it! But it can be dresses, whatever you like - all the same thing really. Outfits costumes, ballgowns ..

Loved Laura's ... just so elegant. Didn't like the top of Oti's ... the skirt was divine but wardrobe didn't do a very good job of containing Oti's assets!! Nat's was nice.
Janette looked awful, didn't like Daisy's outfit or Louise's and hated the top of Oksana's.
Katya looked cute.

Natalie's green dress teamed with her partners outfit was, for me, one of my all-time favourite Strictly costumes.
