I thought it was fairly obvious that he hadn't been drinking. What happened tonight looked like a complication from his illness.
I don't think Phil has been drinking either, there is a syndrome were people can appear drunk without drinking after they have previously had alcohol problems but i can't remember the name of the syndrome, i think it is some in-balance in the brain that causes it. I don't think Phil is leaving as otherwise what would be the point in the Phil and Denise story?

That's what I thought too.
If he wasnt drinking then why didnt he just say it? He just laid there mumbling and not denying it. He promised Ben he would be there for him and try his best, so why would he let them all assune he was drinking?
He hadn't been drinking, as for Sharon stirring it with everyone by telling them he had that was just her being her usual bitchy self, I don't know why she stayed after she said she was leaving Phil, I expect she is hoping Phil snuffs it so she can get her hands on his house and money once a gold digger always a gold digger.
