I think it is obviously he will be by soap role. Secrets always need to be exposed within the year.
I hate this plot and it isn't making me like the Nazirs anymore as it is, |

No relationship is safe in soapland. Months spent on building one up only to knock it down again, boring.

It doesn't look like this story will be relevant at all now after the sacking.

I think the affair will be revealed after Shariff dies suddenly off screen.

Can't see the Nazirs lasting much longer in the show after this.

I agree with KornerKabin's theory about Sharif's exit.

To be honest I couldn't have care less about this affair storyline before but now i'm intrigued as to how they'll write Sharif out. Its suddenly got a lot more interesting. |

Good theory sounds like the easiest solution for the writers.

Some people are suggesting on other threads that the 'reveal' has already been filmed, which would be a shame as I'd much rather see Yasmeen, the Nazirs and even Sonia dealing with Sharif's death first with the layers of his betrayal showing peeling away. |

From a narrative point of view it's going to be pretty sad for Yasmeen, losing her son and husband in such a relatively short period of time. (As well as Alya and Zeedan losing both their dad and grandad too).

This is my worry if they go for a swift post-affair reveal death for Sharif. If he's already demonised in the eyes of his family (although Alya does already know of his betrayal but that's a small point) then it'll be all too easy for him to be killed off and forgotten about completely within a few months. Surely having him killed off before the affair reveal will provide much more drama for the storyline, especially if the true depth of his deceit comes out slowly over a number of episodes as Yasmeen slowly pieces things together, Alya tries to protect her grandmother and Sonia attempts to cover her own back.

In my opinion, we should see Sharif be killed off-screen in a car crash to the devastation of his family. Alya warns Sonia not to attend the funeral, but she can't stay away much to Alya's disgust. Afterwards, she is invited back to the house by Yasmeen, who begs for her support. Sonia reluctantly accepts the invitation but incurs Alya's wrath who then spills the beans on the entire affair as they are all congregated at the house. Upset, but equally seething with Alya, Sonia confesses to the affair but also reveals that Alya blackmailed Sharif for money to fund her Underworld designs- much to Alya's alarm, as she didn't realise that Sharif had told Sonia about the blackmail. Not only is Sonia kicked out of the house, but Alya too as her family are disgusted that she not only knew about the affair but also used the information for her own gain. Alya is ostracised by her family and even most of the factory girls as she was making moves to get ahead with acknowledging Izzy and Sinead's efforts in the design work.
As the police return Sharif's belongings to Yasmeen, an unfinished letter addressed to Yasmeen is included. Her and Zeedan read the letter which reveals that he was deeply ashamed by his actions and was going to leave as he couldn't handle the guilt of the betrayal any longer. Yasmeen completely shuts down as word gets out about the affair and refuses to leave the house, sinking into a deep depression due her sense of betrayal and shame. Over time, Zeedan alongside Rana, Mary, Cathy and Sally rally round her and help her rebuild her life. Despite slowly recovering slowly from the aftermath of the reveal, both she and Zeedan still cannot forgive Alya for her actions. At the factory, she finds her ostracised from the factory girls with Izzy and Sinead feeling their own sense of betrayal from her. Alone and renting a substandard flat, away from the Street, from a lecherous landlord she soon finds herself the subject of unwanted attention. |

I hope I'm wrong, but Corrie and ITV work for the advertisers, not for the viewers.

I think it would be a shame if the whole Nazir family got axed as a result of this...........starting to warm to them. Funnily enough I originally thought Sharif and Alya were the standout characters, but they are easily disposable now.

Alya was ruined when they had her sleep with Jason, as it completely went against the ethics and morality of the character. It was a cheap plot device to break her and Gary up and then the character languished in the factory as a glorified extra for months until now. I do think her character can be made interesting again, but it all comes down to the quality of the writing. |
