I hope they change some things.
It was ridiculous when Corrie rebuilt their set and kept some of the worst errors/flaws from the old one!! (In fairness they did fix a few, but smaller, things).

Not really, but there are some quibbles, like the kitchen of the caff should actually be in the middle of Ian's back yard.

I hope they fix the London Underground too seeing as the 'District Line' goes over Walford Market and ends abruptly!:

Maybe Mary, Mel and Sue could join EastEnders?
Mary could be the new chef at the vic, a scheming alcoholic who has a fling with Patrick. Mel and Sue could be her grandaughters who are new love interests for Max and Tina.

The most ridiculous thing about the Corrie set is when they rebuilt the two shops to look exactly the same after the tram crash. That was proof positive of their unwillingness to embrace change.
The upstairs and downstairs of the vic don't match up when you really think about it. The living room is supposed to be over the main middle doors but it's not, it goes the opposite way. If I'm picturing it right.

Yes not to mention The Rovers after the fire.
It's a shame because the set has changed and evolved so much over 50+ years and this was the chance for the next development but it seems the set is now stuck in some kind of Holy status that is sacrilege to change.
I see June 2017 is given as the start date of the construction and 26 months is given as the total construction time.
They will have to demolish the car park first, then construct the new smaller set, before demolishing the existing set and then building the new part of Walford there. On e plans that were submitted awhile back it looked like we were losing George street.

Yes you're right.
For a while I thought the stairs must have turned 180 degrees at the top but it's since been established that's not the case.

I think the £15 million figure is really good value. Assuming the BBC want EastEnders to last another 30 years its future is very secure now. You have to bare in mind that 8 part series such as Happy Valley probably cost between 1 to 5 million a series. EE by comparison is on 4 times per week every week.

I'm sure I read the plans for the new set have a new look train station, Mosque, school, new high street and supermarket
I'd like to see them extend Victoria Road, which is at the side of Phil's house, and add new houses in there.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get an extra episode a week as a result. With the additional set they could probably add an extra production team.
I've always been against the idea of a fifth episode, but a new set really could open up a lot more story opportunities.

I'd like something like the Chatsworth Estate from Shameless, some of the poorer families could live there. Maybe Phil or Ian could own some of the properties.

I hope not, I'd rather them stick to four episodes a week as it's not overkill and you have to watch it every night. That said, if the show did become better and more exciting then a extra episode could be viewed differently but I think four is enough for now.
Then again they do need something to fill the Wednesday night slot now GBBO has gone.

We've discussed this before Scrabs but EastEnders and Corrie both desperately need some different type of housing to their current 'stock'. Different houses attract different characters, which is the whole essence of the show.
I think that an estate or even a proper block of flats would be great for EastEnders and a real step forward for the show. Rather than having characters who work in a caff or on a fruit and veg stall owning or renting a large Victorian house that would be out of their price range, they could have different characters inhabiting places that are more believable to their income and social status.
