They don't need to build the non-visible parts of the train tracks. But I think I remember seeing a plan to close the Underground station, and instead building a new Overground station instead. - partly because they plan to close off Bridge Street, which leads to the Station.

A new Overground station would make sense and be a realistic development, most of east London is now served by the Overground since TfL's investment a few years ago. It's believed that London Overground and played a major role in the gentrification of areas like Shoreditch and Hackney or it at least accelerated its affect.

Walford's fictional location (Bromley by Bow) actually places it a little too far away from any existing London Overground lines but easily within walking distance of a DLR line so maybe it's time for both! West Walford and Walford Central have been mentioned as nearby stations before.

That'd make sense given as we only ever tend to see the Tube train going past the Queen Vic.

From the set plans here: it looks like access to the Overground is being moved next door to The Albert (unless that's an existing business?):

Apart from what some people have already said...

The mini mart's stock office goes right into the laundrettes one. That one really bothers me.

Plus I dont think the vics toilets match up. They go right in to the vice stock room I'm sure.

They will have to demolish the car park first, then construct the new smaller set, before demolishing the existing set and then building the new part of Walford there. On e plans that were submitted awhile back it looked like we were losing George street.”

They might mean 26 months to redevelop the old set as well. The main set could be complete by 2018

Ronnie mentioned crossrail wanted to buy the gym a few months ago.

They've shown it going over the Arches/Playground before, I think it's been seen over Beales restaurant a few times as well but never over the bridge into the actual station.

But why ? Eastenders has the most realistic-looking set of all the soaps. How would high definition improve it ?

It's more to do with the fact it was initially a temporary set that has lasted 32 years. They often throw in comments about health and safety so it could be that parts of the set are unstable.

They will try and make it authentic as possible, although George Street is a goner.m

Is George St the market street or the street where the Cokers live ?

Neither, it's where Billy lives and where the tube is

seriously ! It often looks like they are struggling for story-lines as it is it surely the show cannot afford to be watered down any further I would have thought.

So it's definitely overdue a refurbishment!

Bit random but I wonder what they will do with the trees? will they leave them in place and build the new set around them or will they pull them up and plant new ones once the new set is complete?

Also interesting to read on the plans that the row of houses where Dot lives will be getting backyards!

But if they build new sets it could open up new stories and they can bring in new characters.

I imagine it'll be a bit taller, more cramped together and denser. They should map it out so they can eventually build much of Walford East too.

I know there are set plans for the Forward Lot but are there any set plans for the back lot?

Oh that'll be interesting! I think we saw a glimpse of Dot's backyard when she saw 'Nick's ghost' standing at the back gate through her window.

We'll probably see Dot hanging out her washing on days the launderette is shut

Or she could do a spot of sunbathing

I think it said they'd build more areas of Walford including Walford High, a brewery and the high street
