I recently bought a refurb SONY KDL 32RD433 from Argos outlet on Ebay. It was faulty and would intermittently fail to turn on in response to either the remote or the "ON" button. The only way to turn it on was to disconnect/reconnect the power cord. I returned it and got a replacement which has the same fault. I've read things on the web to suggest that I'm not alone. Is it likely that I will eventually get one that works if I keep returning them, or is it a known problem with this model that can't be fixed?
I got this TV after getting helpful advice here about the feature allowing the headphone socket to act as "audio-out" making it compatible with wireless headphones. This works well. Is the fault I'm experiencing present on other Sony 32" models with this feature? Do other manufacturers have models with a similar feature?

Send it back and buy new from someone reputable. John Lewis have a web site if there is no store near you and they give a free 5 year warranty, Richer Sounds I have read on this forum do something similar. You may also have a good independent dealer near you as well. From what I have read here I would give both Curry's and Argos a wide berth.

Thanks for your response. I'm happy with the guarantee given by Argos, they replaced the first TV without question so it's not a better guarantee I'm looking for. I could buy the same model new for an additional £70 or so, but would it have the same fault? I have bought many "refurb" electronics in the past and have been satisfied overall with their quality.
My problem here is finding out if this particular model of TV is blighted by this fault, and if so what should I get which has the compatibilty with wireless headphones.

Sony are usually one of the more reliable and better built makes. Though if you are buying refurb units that does suggest they may have had some sort of fault to begin with. Quite possibly they have not been repaired to a satisfactory standard. I doubt such a fault is inherent with that model.

Might be worth looking for a different model of Sony. Most Sony's with headphone sockets work the same way in regards how you can configure the socket. Not many other manufacturers are the same. And headphone sockets are becoming something of an endangered species if not actually extinct

Highly unlikely that all Sony TVs have trouble switching on, it's just a problem with this model.

As for the headphone feature I don't know.
