I really hadn't seen her before last night, so I consider I have an unbiased opinion. She was "too much in your face," for me. Maybe that's her "soap character" coming out, but out of place in a dance competition.

She's obviously got her fans, some seem to have rather intense feelings for her, which causes some to "go way over the top" in their defence, as if they care or need it.

It's not an uncommon reaction on DS.

But you have to smile, don't you?
Well listen DR , when she first appeared in Eastenders I really could not STAND her .At all. She ground my gears something chronic for months . Then somehow she just grew on me despite her still being that same noisy opinionated explosion of glitter and curly wigs . She hadn't changed , yet I grew to quite like her and really on Strictly she is behaving as she does in Eastenders . LOOK AT ME ! is how she is. She dresses for attention and opines for attention and her exuberant laugh is possibly cultivated for attention , but I like it all .
But then I couldn't stand the over rated winner last season and nearly everyone else hearted him beyond heartness, so my taste tends not to follow the herd (no disrespect to anyone intended) .I prefer someone with a bit of zap and character, can't be doing with twee or simpering .
The point being, try to endure her and you might find enduring turning to quite liking .Maybe .

I don't watch EastEnders, so had no prior opinion on Tameka. She makes me laugh, doesn't irritate me. Like another poster said, you get the quiet ones, and you get the ones with big personalities, like that poster I can cope with both.

I love Tameka . ♥
That girl got game .
She's not stupid, she knows she's short and chubby and has bad posture but doesn't give a stuff , she just puts her foot on the accelerator and goes for it 100mph .
Reminds me of "Dance like no-one is watching you ". BOOM ! 💃
This! I love Tameka too! She's ace!

"Well listen Heatherbell," you've confirmed to me exactly what I suspected, she's brought her soap persona to a show about ballroom dancing for cryin' out loud. I said that on seeing her for the first time "I couldn't stand her," there are too many people on TV with her sort of "look at me attitude." But I don't have to suffer them.

So as I said, I record this programme, so "I don't have to stand her," I can fast-forward through the few occasions when she'll be still in the show. It's no big deal.

As I say so often, I don't mind what other posters think about people on TV.
If I say I like someone, what difference can it make to me if someone says they think they're awful? I certainly wouldn't dish out some of the personal vitriol that a few do. But then DS has always been the same. I find that sort of intensity felt by some, over "TV characters," slightly amusing, but actually quite sad.
It's just a telly programme for chrissakes.

What I think is completely senseless, is anyone trying to change my views about anyone, just because they like them.

Now let's all move on.

I don't think she is looking for attention, she is just naturally outgoing and funny. Her laugh is infectious in small doses.

I used to dislike her in EE but have gotten used to her now. It is probably a bit intimidating for her being paired with Gorka and she is resorting to humour to cover it. Give her a chance and she might grow on you.

I'm interested, why is that important to you?

In my case it isn't going to happen.
But if you like her, as it should be, that's fine by me.

Spot on. Some women know that they've just got to stand there looking beautiful and they'll get all the attention they could desire. For women like Tameka they have to fight for attention otherwise they'll just get overlooked. She is actually a naturally funny person and that helps a lot.

It's not the slightest bit important to me who you like or don't like.

Snipped for space .

BIB . Yet here you are , on a forum soundly berating a "TV character" you watched for 5 mins on a TV dance show .
Hmm .Seems we are not so different after all really .

I'm fine with you sticking firmly to your opinion on her . Enjoy .

Just struggling with Tameka.

I don't like her.
Same here, she isn't the only one as there are a few others I don't like at this point either, they may grow on me, unlikely though.

Look up the definition of "berating."
I said I can't stand her as she was too much "in your face."
I also said I didn't mind if others liked her.

I didn't "berate" her. I passed a personal observation on her personality.
So we're nowhere near the same.

A personal observation that is negative(such as "she's too much in your face" ) on someone's personality on an open forum is berating the person . .For sure it wouldn't be classed as complimentary .
But never mind , dodging her will be easy for you on fast forward, so problem solved .

You're right, it wasn't complimentary, but neither was I berating her.

Your confusion is caused because still don't understand the meaning of the word, because I've never said a word to her, look it up.

I told you I could fast-forward through her contributions, so why mention it again?

Why does your post read as if it is still a problem for you?

Let it go.

I had, until you kicked off again!

Remember, you started in on me, so you still want the last word?

I like Tameka. She seems like a naturally loud person. Some people are just like that.

I like her so far. It could become irritating though if she stays in any length of time and consequently gets more air time.

I'm probably being thick, but the title of this thread confused me: I seriously wondered if Tameka was actually ill. Silly me, it seems that it's another thread designed to bash a celebrity that the OP doesn't like.

I don't watch EE, had no idea who Tameka was until she turned up on ITT last year, and am fairly indifferent to her in the competition. Yet here I am, posting in a thread about her. Go figure.

WOW!!!

All this heated conversation going on and I wasn't even involved. Usually, every argument around here revolves around me!!!

For my two-penneth worth, I like tiny Tameka with the massive personality. She had me in stitches in the Launch Show but I must admit, she overdid it a bit too much on Saturday. Still love here though.

She has clearly been hired for a purpose. Ed Balls was not exactly booked for his sparkling wit and personality. So guess who was? Yes, it may not be to everyone's taste, but isn't that the whole point - catering to different tastes. For example, I cannot stand Judge Rinder...far too try hard (and fail) for my liking. But I wish him no ill - my only wish is that he gets booted next week. Never gonna happen, I know but there you go...

Can't believe I am 'playing peacemaker' and telling everyone to calm down around here - what a turnaround!!!
