Lots of over marking tonight. Liked Daisy and Danny. Ed not as bad as I expected. Looking forward to next week. Prefer to see them all on the same day.

3. Loved Will Young
4. Ed Balls not as terrible as I thought he was going to be
5. Cliftons have got all the best people.

Not sure how you're able to tell that, since Lance was singing it.

What was wrong with Louise's dancing that you thought was over marked?

I think she is being marked with the professional she is with.

But you didn't see anything wrong with her dancing?

It is going to be very competitive - agreed with a lot of the judge's comments - I hope that Claudia (and Greg too) tone down any tricks they do - enjoyed Louise and Will the most. I thought Will's tango was very promising.

1. Danny should've been top of the leaderboard. Unfortunately he reminds me of Joe Swash when he speaks. Not really feeling any connection between him and Oti though.

2. AJ put way too many gymnastic moves in, I don't think she is going to be quite as good as a lot of people were expecting. She and Ed stand out a bit for their lack of showbiz 'personality'.

3. I could barely concentrate on Will's tango because of his hideous trousers (presumably made by the same person who did Ore's) but seemed to be much better choreography than usual from Karen.

4. Daisy's waltz was nice but didn't deserve a 9.

5. As someone else said, the ringer balance feels like it may have tipped too far this year.

1. Craig has been on the space dust.
2. Ditto happy pills.
3. Ditto absinthe.
4. Ditto Colombian marching powder.
5. Ditto pretty production assistant.

I liked Will's Tango but found his socks a bit distracting.

1. I like Will but I didn't think he did much at all in that tango. He didn't do anything wrong, but a lot of the time, Karen was dancing like a demon and he was just sort of .. standing there, or walking passively beside her. What did the judges see that I missed?
2. I'm pleased to find that I love AJ, he was great to watch when dancing, and he took Claudia's jokes at his expense in good spirit.
3. I think Anastasia could do a really good rumba!
4. Louise was AWESOME, she looks so chilled and "OK, I'll give it a go," but when she danced that jive, she just nailed every step, and her smile and enjoyment of it was infectious.
5. The scoring was a bit generous - but - people were really good, for week one!

1. A much better show than last night - thank goodness!
2. The marking was all over the place, Craig in particular has lost the plot.
3. Daisy and Danny were miles better than everyone else.
4. Ed was much better than I expected, while Claudia and Melvin didn't live up to expectations.
5. Once Anastacia gets over her nerves she will be a great dancer.

Cheeky 6: I'm so glad it looks like it will be a competitive show this year - the more ringers, the better as far as I'm concerned! But the pros need to pull their socks up choreography-wise - none of the routines were particularly impressive this week.

[quote=Frank Mag;84024388]I think Daisy losing her Grandfather on her first day of training isn't 'wheeling out the sob story'. I hope he is looking down on her with pride, her waltz was beautiful.

I agree. She was barely holding it together by the end. I think he virtually brought her up as well if he was Pearl Lowe's dad.

1. Ore's trousers
2. Daisy and Anastasia were overmarked
3. Danny should have been top he was fabulous

1. LOVED Daisy and her beautiful waltz! Hope her latin is as good!
2. Danny was really good, but I don't think I can take to him. Find something slightly smarmy about him.
3. Anastacia was, as predicted, fabulous! Tad overmarked though, as were some others.
4. Claudia W was great, Tess not so much.
5. Standard looks VERY high this year! I'm expecting a shock elimination or two along the way.

1. Yet again some very inconsistent scoring by the judges, lots of overmarking especially by Craig.....?? think he's been on the gin tonight!!
2. I liked the opening sequence
3. Danny Mac reminds me of Danny Dyer when he speaks
4. First year in a long time where there are so many potential winners.... reckon it will come down to popularity.
5. Still annoyed by the ovrmarking that I have to mention it twice!

1) Louise must be the only woman to ever jive in a cardie. God only knows what she'd wear for an AT, a sparkly burkha??

2) The camera work was shocking. I will pay good money to whatever audience member sticks out their foot when whirly camera man is around. See also projected graphics on the floor, stop it!

3) Oti is beside herself with glee! I don't blame her.

4) Karen's b*tch face whilst Daisy was getting her scores was a joy 😊

5) Traditionally I get a bit of a ( temporary) crush on Brendan every year. This year- zip, nada, nul, nothing. I am over it. Which is lucky, seeing as he's already packing his bag for Erin Island 🌴🌴🍸🍸

1: Kevin is a very good choreographer who consistently produces great dances that showcase his celebs strongpoints.
2: Danny is technically very good, but like a previous poster I think I will struggle to warm to him. Len was right, he did look very stage like. I get a whiff of Ricky Wittle/Scott Maslen from him. I didn't like either of them BTW.
3: Len was very patronising to Claudia when he called her a 'little girl'.
4: Tameka and Gorka have a great partnership.
5: The standard is very high this year, and unlike last year we won't have an obvious run away winner from early on.

1. Loved the opening dance - summed up the spirit of Strictly for me.
2. Danny M had been completely under my radar but wow, wow and wow. Ringer or not, he is going to be great to watch.
3. Think Louise will be good for Kevin: she is understated and cool and that will make him rein it in (unlike the frantic Kellie last year).
4. Thought Tameka and Anastacia both struggled.
5. Ed looked gutted and yet, as Len said, he is what Strictly is all about ...may have to throw him some votes for a few weeks at least.

1. Louise might want to rethink asking wardrobe for "modest" outfits where modest=sack
2. Janette cannot choreograph a cha cha to save her life
3. Jay did not mention his grandfather dying
4. Brendan as a john getting a lapdance was taking the song a bit literally
5. Some of the songs used for the vts were better than the music chosen

6. Did anyone else notice Lesley's expression at Kevin's jive?
7. Will Young looks ike Matthew Kelly
8. Ed Balls has Freddy Starr/Ray Liotta's eyes

They all speak very highly of me!

1. Louise's jive will look good in the final when she has more confidence and knows a lot more.
Daisy's waltz was so pretty. Both Kevin and Aljaz do great jobs with their celebs.

2. A few over-marks, especially Anastasia who I like, but shouldn't have been paired with Brendan.

3. Danny was really very good for week one, and I love Oti, so I'm glad she has someone capable of so much so we can see what she can do but........
I really just don't like him and I see it only getting worse as it goes on. There's something about him I just cannot put my finger on, but I don't like him off of the floor.

4. Will Young will be worth his fee alone for those practise outfits.

5. It was really nice for the first week not to have those silly routines which is a nudge and a wink to either what they do, or their name. It seems the songs were either fitting, or songs they really liked. Also, quite a lot of routines that really focused on the dance (even Karen's which was good to see).

Yes, yes, yes! This exactly! I said that as I was watching, I didn't like those two either. Isn't that strange!
