Susanna- Won CIN Special, so while not a ringer, had potential.
Frankie- Ringer
Kellie- Attended Sylvia Young. Ringer.
Louise- Ringer
3/4 ringers and another contender.
So compared to Pasha's 4/6 ringers or contenders, Kevin's had the same amount. Pasha had 4 in a row too. Has anyone counted the other pros ringers and contenders?

Artem has had two of the biggest ringers the show has had in Kara and Natalie, had a contender on paper in Holly - and an unknown/probably low expectation partner in Fern.

Yes, Artem's another one I disliked and was annoyed he got good partners, and unlike Kevin, he didn't have the excuse of not winning.

There's been the same number of Cliftons for 3 years now hadn't there?

I don't think anyone can begrudge the two girls a ringer this year. They both absolutely deserve it.

I think the whole world is aware Kevin is due a grade A duffer but as he doesn't get to choose his partner it's pointless to blame him.

They all seem like really nice and kind people who are great with their partners.

I agree with Nina the shows this week were not all about the Cliftons and if you think they were then you have chosen to see it that way.

I have counted them, but should I list them here?

The Clifton show?
Only Kevin has got to the latter stage each year with either ok or good dancers. Susannah wasn't actually very good, she was just good, while Frankie, Kellie were better (dep on the dance).

Karen has had quite a varying array of dancing celebs like Dave (Hairy Biker) and Jeremy which weren't exactly good dancers, and then okish dancers like Nicky and Mark Wright. Will is prob her first good (from the off) dancer.

Joanne had one dancer partner, Scott Mills (he wasn't great), and then Ore who is a complete contrast (even just from one dance).

So how Karen and Joanne are seen as being favoured seems odd. This is only Joanne's second dancing year and Karen only had a near chance of winning with Mark (and he wasn't even the best dancer that series).

The 'Clifton show' would only make sense if they had good celeb partners every year and on on top of that got far every year, and that hasn't been the case.

They're three talented dancers all on the show on the merits of their dancing ability. Why the Hell does it matter whether they're related or not?

Only two of which are Cliftons anyway by birth!!
Seems we have to keep repeating the same tired old threads on the subject though!!

Excellent post totally agree. I think some people purposely look for a reason to hate on them. They may not be everyone`s cup of tea but they are not pushed in everyone faces, I think it`s just how people want to see it.

Joanne Clifton I think is the best female dancer in the show.
Most accomplished professionally but so far an awful choreographer. I'm going to reserve my judgement for a few more weeks ( if Ore is still there ) but her choreography is terrible. With Scott I could understand, but Ore isn't that bad of a dancer and that tango choreography over the weekend was shocking.

I'm no fan of the Clifton's at all. However, isn't it nice to have some Brits as pros? I don't feel they are taking over, or getting preferential treatment.Pasha (until Naga) always seemed to get a good partner as did Artem.

I don't mind Jo at all. I think she is actually rather good.

Karen is a beauty too, although she does seem to hog the limelight a bit.

Kevin is annoying with his kick at the start but he too seems like a nice enough lad. He comes across so endearing when he talks and is so joyful in ITT.

He must be nice because each partner he had had has spoken highly of him and said what a good teacher he was.

I think I would like Kevin more if he didnt keep arranging his dances as though we havent got past the 60s yet or a doing a dance to a song where he can play dress up and most of the music he dances lend themselves to dress up
it seemed as though every dance he had with Kellie last year was just to dress up

lets face it, IMO with good costume and music a celebs dancing could be crap and they would not be in the bottom two

I can see his sister continuing down the same lines, with music from the past either big musicals or shows

Its as though they see winner by harping back to the past, thinking they are on the west end or in a Buzby Berkeley show

the producers choose the music - and I think this week movie week Jo had no option but to go with the movie (with some success)

And brilliant it was too, I loved it. Jo must have worked very hard with Ore, he danced so well, applying great technique.

Back to the title of the thread, related or not, the Cliftons are all individuals, all fantastic teachers, coaches and dancers. It matter not that they are related surely ?

There are three Cliftons on the show??

Why has no one ever mentioned this before? This is literally brand new information!
Investigative journalism at its finest
Must work for the S*n then.

Kevin can be OTT, I like Karen and Joanne but I think they bring a lot to SCD.

Joanne was dropped from the main show last year - not sure why considering her qualifications.

Also, Karen Clifton was Karen Hauer until she married Kevin last year.

It was discussed last series that maybe a male celeb that was lined up for the show dropped out, meaning a Pro wasn't going to get a celeb. An idea in additon to that was because Oti was a new international Pro and was going to be coming over to the UK, that the show would not just have her as the spare Pro and hence celeb/pro partnerings reshuffled to make this certain. Joanne was thoguht to have perhaps been scacrificed on this occasion (for whatever reason) but described to be taking a more regular appearance on ITT instead to make up for that.

Obviously it was never revealed officially if a male celeb had last minuted dropped out hence the male shortage for female pros, but it was thought Joanne would have been a main pro otherwise. I don't know where any of these ideas came from, but of course there are always people that seem to somehow know things (if they know ppl that work at the show, or can get gossip in other ways/means).
