I really like Karen, then again she isn't a blood Clifton. Joanne's voice irritates and I like Kevin depending on his partner. This year he seems calmer with Louise and more likeable. Last year with Kellie, I couldn't deal with them at all and would fast forward..

It was discussed last series that maybe a male celeb that was lined up for the show dropped out, meaning a Pro wasn't going to get a celeb. An idea in additon to that was because Oti was a new international Pro and was going to be coming over to the UK, that the show would not just have her as the spare Pro and hence celeb/pro partnerings reshuffled to make this certain. Joanne was thoguht to have perhaps been scacrificed on this occasion (for whatever reason) but described to be taking a more regular appearance on ITT instead to make up for that.
Obviously it was never revealed officially if a male celeb had last minuted dropped out hence the male shortage for female pros, but it was thought Joanne would have been a main pro otherwise. I don't know where any of these ideas came from, but of course there are always people that seem to somehow know things (if they know ppl that work at the show, or can get gossip in other ways/means). |

I honestly am not sure Joanne " got " SCD with Scott, his routines were awful. I know he was a bad dancer but each routine was awful. She never also ' got ' Scott a witty man not slapstick funny. I think as he was a BBC employee she blotted her copy book. This last dance with Ore went Ok but the previous choreography for him has been a miss. I will await events but she needs to continue to remember it's about teaching Ore.
The only reason Scott got past week one was because of Jo's fun choreography for him!! I've said this many times but not only was Scott a diabolically poor dancer, he also didn't even have particular value as a comedy character either!! How she got him through to week six was an amazing achievement & was down to her quirky comedy choreography imo!! |

The Ore movie dance was more than ok to me, and Joanne is as decent enough at training as any of the Pros (plenty of them have churned out varying good/bad routines given the celebs' skills, given the dance, given the music, given the theme, etc). |

How she got him through to week six was an amazing achievement & was down to her quirky comedy choreography imo!! I think her choreography was all about showing off what she could do that first year. People liked Scott I suspect THAT was the reason they voted for him but his dances were cringeworthy. We have had non dancers on the show before who have progressed, he didn't , one iota. |

One of the forum member put it succinctly this way: there are too many Cliftons for one show. It is bad for the other pros' morale, especially when some of the Cliftons behave in a childish, unprofessional way (it was discussed on other threads).
At the very beginning, I liked Joanne, tolerated Karen, could not stand attention-seeking gurning Kevin. My opinion changed when I saw how good Karen was in Latin dances and how jealous was Joanne of more successful SCD professionals. I have also changed my opinion of Kevin who has become more restrained and elegant this season. I like him and his partnership with Louise very much. I also saw a couple of interviews in which he looked much more intelligent than Karen and Joanne. Karen, on the other hand, did not look or behave too smart. She was clowning like a not very intelligent but spoiled kid - a huge turn-off for me. I also cooled toward Joanne. The hype around her choreography did not convince me about her talent: yes, she knows how to use the entire floor but she also overuses props and inserts unnecessary theatricals that look like a cover-up for her lack of choreography skills. Besides, I am not sure that the above-mentioned hype was not artificially created by Joanne's parents (who, being part of the dance world, quote probably participate in these forums) or even Joanne herself. After all, she engaged in Twitter wars with her critics in the past... Joanne is a weak Latin dancer; she is good in Ballroom, but I still prefer Erin and Natalie. (It's just a matter of taste, obviously: I love statuesque ballroom dancers.) To conclude: One or two Cliftons would be quite enough for SCD; three is overkill. |

Trying to use other pros' morale as an argument doesnt work, IMO, because you, or no one here knows how the other pros morale is.
It seems like every single thing, every facial expression, every word, that Kevin, Karen or Jo do, is turned into a huge issue. When they muck around with the other pros, Kevin, Karen and Jo get called out, while the other pros doing it is fine. It's become nitpicky. |

I'm not sure it matters, there are other relationships in SCD and why pick on the Cliftons. I actually blame Bruce. He wouldn't let go of the Grimsby connection for Kevin. He had to gurn through gritted teeth and that couldn't be easy in your first year. He's a great dancer. I like Jo, she is a good choreographer. Karen is beautiful but my god she loves to eat ! She seems fun, fantastic Latin dancer too. The dance Kevin and Karen did last week when Ellie Goulding was on was beautiful.

The VT of Kevin and Louise's visit to a "wild west" themed park this week surprised me because Louise really did look utterly bored and irritated with Kevin, she looked like she had enough of him ! Get stuffed mate, you are utterly tedious !
It was the same in Paris, but not half as bad as this ! Meg |

Karen annoys me more than the other 2, because she is the weakest dancer yet still seems to be forefront in every dance.

Maybe not fragile, maybe irritated. Maybe that's why James Jordan still can't let go.

Well said! All of their celebs have adored them, not bad word ever, from anyone. They're a positive part of tge show, and bring a lot of enthusiasm to the screen. Love them!

I have found Kevin delightful this series. Calm, eleggant and a supportive partner. It was the partnership with the loud, brash Kellue Bright I couldn't stand.

Keith and Judy maintain a twitter account and have a school facebook and a private one - they rarely post on any of them and when they do 99.5% of it is connected to school and announcements to pupils - they post once on a saturday to say well done to their kids. Jo's twitter wars as you say was with a group of trolls not critics and was on one occassion - again get your facts right. On Jo's capabilities as a dancer - well that is just your opinion |

One is enough for me to be honest. Kevin has obviously taken on board the moans and groans over being OTT and has cooled down this year thankfully, but feel Karen and Joanne and Kevin are still the producers favourites and it shows.

What is everyone's problem? All the Clifton bashing threads - why? You have a brother and sister, the children of dancers with a dance school, what is so unusual in the circumstances that they should both choose to become professional ballroom dancers and end up on a television show requiring ballroom professionals.
One of them meets another dancer (how many on here have met their partner through work?) , forms a relationship and gets married. His wife chooses to take her husband's name. Not so much now but when SCD started most of the professionals were couples, whether "just" in a professional capacity (eg Anton & Erin) or in a personal capacity as well ( e.g. DArren and Lillia). I don't like the way Karen & Jo started chanting the other week but we have seen similar in the past when the professionals have thought one of their own was unfairly treated, but contributors seem to object only when the protestors are related. Since the number of couples in the final increased we have seen couples who came third and fourth appear in the final. Erin Boag was regularly in the top four the first few years until she started to get naff partners. Even in the great Austin Healey scandal of 2008 she was 4th and under the current format would have had another final appearance. I'm sure there are some on here who can give all the stats I'm just pointing things out from memory but hopefully I can bring a little sense and logic to the Clifton debacle. |

Karen and Jo are producers' favourites? Really? This is the first year Jo has had a good partner, Karen has had even less luck. How are they the producers' favourites?

Agreed. Kevin the only one who has been fortunate with partners - and even then, Susanna was a bit of an unknown.
He probably should have danced with Lesley Joseph this year. Louise could have danced with Gorka (though would there be height issues?) and Tameka with Anton. |
