This will cause a headache for writers as the affair was due to be revealed around Christmas. It's slightly reminiscent of the Ferreira debacle on EastEnders.

Let's hope Kate has some more axings in the pipeline if she's not too busy wooing back Curly.”

This is shocking but that storyline wasn't very interested anyway, the writers are struggling for new ideas if you ask me, babies and affairs have been done millions of times.

Stupid to put it on Twitter, but there's no love lost between many Indians and Pakistanis. In my experience they hate each other.

Social Media and people personal views are a dangerous thing, especially when your in the public eye, Corrie took swift action and that amendable, suck it messes with continuity/storylines but I'm sure the actors are warned about what they put on social media and that is the risk they take.

Pretty shocking news and one heck of a scandal for Kate Oates to now deal with. What sort of an idiot is this man? His disgusting comments have not only cost him a role in a high-profile prime time show, but will affect him getting other roles in the future. It has been three years since the Chris Fountain debacle, and it's only now that his career is beginning to get back on track with his role in The Full Monty. Marc Anwar's career is effectively dead in the water now.

In terms of the affair storyline, I'm guessing we'll have Sharif die suddenly off-screen and the truth come out after his death. This will leave Sonia to deal with the wrath of his family when they discover the truth.

Why any actor in a high profile role even engages in social media is beyond me.

There's still room for plenty of drama with or without the actor.”

Yeah a saw a similar story on reddit about a guy who found out his wife had been having an affair for two years. He only found out because the other man had died in a car crash and his wife went into deep grief over it. I'm sure Corrie could do something similar.

Shariff goes to look after an uncle in Liverpool who has a broken arm?
This is usually the explanation for a sudden disappearance. He doesn't drink so he can't go to Spain to manage a bar.

They're running that storyline with Cathy, first finding about her husbands affair with her sister after he had died, now finding out her husband fathered her nephew.

Is it possible they would run 2 similar storylines.

Good point, I'd forgotten about Cathy's husband being Alex's dad. Not sure whether Corrie would run two very similar storylines or not. They might partly shelve the Cathy/Alex storyline by having Cathy accept things quite quickly, opening the way for Sharif death and affair reveal.

However, I still think that

Spoiler
Sharif is Rana's father

So that's potentially another repeated story running at the same time

Either way, Sharif has to go and I think a quick and clean death is the only feasible way of doing it and keeping the affair storyline going beyond his departure.

From Digital Spy news:

"Digital Spy understands that the storyline features so heavily that it won't be possible for producers to edit Sharif out of immediate Corrie episodes at this late stage.

However, a show insider told us that producers will look at re-editing episodes further on down the line to minimise his presence where possible - before Sharif makes an off-screen exit."

Spoiler
If the affair has only been going on for 7 years, he can't be.

He was just starting to be an interesting character on screen. Wonder if him and Sonia will do a runner.

It's not just the affair storyline it affects, it's the Phelan scam and Alya

Sounds like they have an editing nightmare on their hands with this scandal. I think we need to prepare for certain episodes feeling quite disjointed thanks to last minute edits. Will we now even see this week's scenes of Alya blackmailing Sharif?

Correction: we will see these scenes, as they're due to broadcast so soon.

I hope that these scenes are edited out. Stupid direction to take both characters in, especially Alya.

I was starting to like him and his feisty side with lots of secrets, what a silly man.he will find it very hard to get acting work again as companies do not like to employ openly racist people.

I think we'd will see at least this weeks episodes and they will edit him out to make sense at a point in the

blackmail story

Think there will be less filler nonsense tho like the lovey Dove stuff with both women.

I wonder if this will teach Corrie not to spoiler so far in advance!

She isn't? Oh right! This just goes to show how little I actually follow on Corrie these days. I should really stop commenting on the show completely!

Perhaps the whole family could disappear overnight. Getting rid is absolutely the right decision - he's either supremely arrogant to think he can keep his job after posting vile stuff like that, or incredibly stupid. Either way, absolutely no loss.

Character wise, the Nazirs were finally starting to grow on me, but Sharif is the weakest link by a mile and the affair storyline is so ridiculous that I'm glad it'll now come to an end. I hope Yasmeen can stay - I've started to really like her. Alya can do one though! Don't care either way about Zeedan.

Now that it's been posted no need to keep it in spoilers as I did when replying to you in my post #87. Sonia can't be Rana's mother because the affair has only been going on for 7 years. That has been stated on the show.

I think they'll definitely run off together, either that or he does one himself and leaves a note to Yasmeen explaining his deception, and leaving Sonia to explain.
