I am not a great fan of Karen's but if it was to be a replacement in house then it would have to be her - she already is an international judge.

Still think it will be a new face though - or why would BBC be talking to several people outside the show - I remain hopeful for a new face

I just cant see it being anyone else than Anton. He sticks out like a sore thumb as a dancer now. Surely they will give it t him (whether he is the right choice or not!) as a reward to stay on the show.

Not a good enough reason. He's an 'I'm a bit of a berk' person, which does not work for judging. He has zero charisma and a warped 1970s sense of humour to boot.

He's fine playing the idiot, and dancing flawless ballroom - but judging? Oh dear no!

I can't see Karen being given the job, unless Darcey leaves, so they need two replacements, the odds are it'll be another man.
It's always been a male dominated line-up.

They now have 2 female presenters, and a female presenter on ITT, so no reason why there shouldn't now be a 2 male/2female judging panel. Having said that, I would hate for that to be Karen.

Don't get me wrong. I agree with what you're saying totally - I don't want Anton as a judge AT ALL! But Anton will never leave Strictly and he is looking out of place now and doesn't have the skill to win - are they brave enough not to give him a dancer contract one year?

Well, IIT has always had a female presenter for the majority of its run, it's a programme I think that appeals more to women.
Claudia and Tess got the jobs as they'd proved they were competent when the old codger went on walk- about (either physically or mentally). The economy conscious BBC realised they didn't have to pay out a fortune to another presenter who would too, try to make it more his show, as they were aware that the show had a momentum of it's own and didn't need another "big name." I bet they saved the best part of half a million quid there.

Still think it'll be three male judges.

The decision works both ways. A dancer has to want the contract.

I am not sure what Anton really does when he doesn't do SCD. Our ballroom experts/dancers on this forum will know better because they are up to speed with the ballroom world.

Does he do cruises, teach? If he needs an income he'll do SCD. Does SCD need him? Well, no, not any more. Are they obliged to make him a judge? No that that also.

I'd love to see new face. I wish Anton leave quietly with grace and go and live with his jolly selection of cardigans.

I would prefer to see Erin take over the vacant spot on the panel than Karen Hardy. Agree with some that Craig should be promoted to Head Judge.

They are. However, Karen is a qualified ballroom and Latin judge.

Yes, she is of course. But that does not mean she is right for television. Judging by her stints on ITT, she really does not have what it takes to be on camera.

It's a whole other kind of talent.

As far as I'm aware Anton seems to do mainly shows/tours and corporate events. I know he did use to teach and I'm pretty sure that I saw that he had passed his ISTD ballroom associate teaching exams a few years ago, but I'm not aware of him teaching nowadays or adjudicating or coaching, but I might be wrong.

I totally agree that people need to be right for TV, and I would not choose Karen to be a judge on Strictly. I'd also prefer someone completely new.

Yes think Anton just does tours and cruises now have not heard of him teaching and with his lack of latin havent heard of him adjudicating either

Have you not heard of anyone approached by BbC Ann? one judge told me late December they had been approached by BBC (they did not tell me it was regarding Len replacement until it was annnounced) and have heard of a couple of others since so the BBC are looking so don't think anyone on show is a sure thing

No, I've not heard anything you wouldn't already be aware of (Jennifer mentioned one name that you knew). I go to one school with past Strictly associations but I've not heard any rumours circulating there.

I think they should replace Len with someone from outside the Strictly orbit.

Most of the in house candidates have a history or quirk that will put some viewers against them, whereas an outsider (with the correct qualifications) would at least get a fair crack of the whip and perhaps have a greater sense of credibility.
