Glug!

I'm definitely in the 'what the hell did he ever do wrong?' school. The dislike feels freakish to me. I think people are possessed my malign spirits. Any way, fwiw, this year my favourite Clifton is Karen. Thought her tango choreography was brilliant
I feel the same. I'm somewhat bemused by the targeting of him. I wouldn't say I've been a huge fan of how his dances have been styled (wardrobe, theme etc) but the content has always been very good and his teaching seems to be of a high standard. He seems to have an excellent relationship with his partners too.

In fact all the Cliftons seem to work extremely well with their celeb partners.

As for who stands where in the line up or clauditorium, I really don't notice or care.

I wanted him and Susanna to win, would have been happy for him and Frankie to win, gradually got sick to the back teeth of him and Kellie over the course of the series (although think she put in a great show in the semis and earned her place in the final if not the scores she got there) and felt my eyes roll back far into my head at the production number he put on last night over getting 8s with an Italia Conti graduate and previous dance show judge. I feel like I need James Jordan to slag him off again so I can feel sympathetic because at it stands I need a series break from him.

I liked him at first, but his dancing and choreo does grate ... and it IS like he is parodying dance.
Last year with Kellie was the final straw ... together they were awful. Like kids on tartrazine. Hated that Star Wars Charleston and hated how it got all a bit twee and syrupy in the slower numbers. And then there was the camera hogging (which was probably mostly Kellie but still) and the raucous behaviour from wife and sis in the finals which was not quite in the spirit of Strictly ... where there is usually generous support of everyone regardless if it's your husband/wife/sister who's competing.

This year he thankfully has a quieter contestant, it makes a difference. But they will throw potential winners at him until he wins.

I don't mind Kevin, but think sometimes his dancing style is too 'OTT' for my taste. However this year, being given one of the most ready polished contestants ever, he either needs to finally win or be given a stream of Anton contestants for the next 3 years!
I think I'd agree, though I think he's mellowing over the years. He's certainly has his fair share of decent partners though!

I find it interesting that folks can form an opinion of someone without actually speaking to them. It would be fun if Kevin choregraphed one of his dances this year to the tune of "Getting to Know You". Can some think of a dance that would suit that song?
Well that's an odd thing to say, people make judgements on others every single day of their lives.

You choose who to elect, you choose which TV programme you watch, you choose which music you listen too, you decide if you like someone many times a day

I decided last night that I wasn't that keen on Melvin, I couldn't tell you why and I have never liked Lesley, I have never met either.

I quite like Kevin personally. Supported Frankie during her series and quite liked his partnership with Susanna, but his partnership with Kellie did irritate me (mainly due to her).

I was disappointed with his dance last night and the overreaction was annoying. I would rather he got a middler/duffer to see how he coped.

I guess that's for you to figure out.

I like him a lot. He's extremely talented, all of his dance partners love him, he doesn't fake any showmances, he's enthusiastic and brings a lot of positivity to the show.
Agree... i like how he helps his celebrity partners showcase what they can do

I really liked the Kevin/Frankie partnership but the Kevin/Kellie partnership was quite annoying - they seemed to bring out the worst in each other. Did anyone else think Kevin was a bit sneery about the Eternal videos/Louise's dancing in them?

I think that was more a not very subtle attempt at Ringer Deflection ... ringer? ringer? what ringer? nothing to see here ...

Kevin is the Mark Ballas of Strictly. Constantly playing up to the cameras. All that gurning. But I will say I think he is one of the most competent male instructors and his choreography is generally good and well balanced. I like him, but it's not without effort.

They'll keep giving him flippin ringers until he wins. I've always disliked his choreography (bland, childish - Joanne suffers this too). Golden boy with the producers but not with the public.

When he first came on the show he was hailed as a bit 'different' - he wore glasses, a bit short and had the audacity to come from Grimsby - for at the entire first season and beyond this was his USP and people seemed to love it. So much so that the worm turned and some began to find it highly irritating.

He does have an 'over enthusiastic Labrador' style but .....that's just his style - it's early days but it looked a teeeeeeeeeny bit toned down last night.

He's a good dancer, a great addition to the show as is his sister and wife - a talented bunch who come in for unfair criticism simply for being 'happy' and related.

That'd be the public that have helped vote him through to three successive finals, would it?

I suppose that depends on whether you think they were never dead last on the combined leaderboard on at least one of the times they were Judges saved

I dont dislike him, I just find him a bit OTT and attention seeking - like when they all come down the stairs and stand at the bottom - why does he do that kick when the music ends? why cant he just stand there like everyone else he may as well just shout "here I am, look at me" he has done it since the beginning and it just gets on my nerves - sorry!

Im sure he is a lovely guy but, in my opinion only, I dont think he comes across that well on the tv

Given the calibre of his partners he really should have won by now. If him and Joanne cooled it with the lovestruck teenager choreography maybe the general consensus on them would improve. I liked what Kevin did with Susannah though.

I don't think it's likely - she was a long way ahead of Carol on the leaderboard the first time she was in the bottom two, and for Carol to have got a higher combined score it would have required some people we know were popular at that point (Jay, Anita) to be very low. It's possible the week she was up against Peter, but I think it was obvious that he was drawing dead at that point. I can't imagine who would have been voting for him at that point. I do think it's likely she was bottom of the public vote, or near it, at least two or three times.

So true he has had good partners every time so should have won I just find him too full of himself and although a good dancer he is so short he doesn't have the elegance for me.

A fair number of former finalists may have been rescued by the vagaries of the DO - just one of life's little mysteries, eh? Suffice to say that our little Kevin appears to be in receipt of more pros than cons as far as the voting public's concerned.
