What about a nice Bonfire Night story, where Celebrations in the Square get out of control, getting rid of some of the axed characters”

I would have said the same but watching my great nieces and nephew the last few years getting mega excited over Halloween and then, shock of shocks!, seeing a Halloween Shop in the Metro Centre the other night I think we can say that Halloween is quite a big thing in this country now too. It's come a long way from my carved turnip and sharing ghost/scary stories with the neighbourhood kids that's for sure! But I have to say that I quite like it.

Best EE Halloween episode(s) for me was Michael Moon's death. Brilliantly creepy. Be great if Max turned up this year.

I really like the way EE does Halloween but this year I have a funny feeling it will be very low key.

The BBC seem to enjoy these Halloween episodes now. I think a Max return is most likely and him terrorising some people who helped put him away.

Well the current big stories are Denise's baby and Phils liver. That's pretty much it

I see both of them lasting till Christmas too, Phil having his op on one bed, Denise giving birth on a bed next to him while the Mitchell's gather round in their ChristmS jumpers and funny hats.

In the trailer Gavin could say at the end It's gonna be a blast.

If they do kill off Ronnie & Roxy it's doubtful they will kill off Lee. I do like the idea of Lee just going missing and disappearing like Sean Slater and Frank Butcher did.

Ian & Jane do need some kind of punishment bestowed on them.

I think this is an ideal storyline for the Carters. The uncertainty of not knowing if someone is dead is probably in some ways even worse than being able to bury them. I think a really powerful storyline would be Lee getting married, going through the motions, then writing a note implying he just can't keep pretending and that he's going to end it. There's a huge manhunt for his body but it's simply never found. Then if they did want to bring Lee back in a couple of years time, it would give the Carters some great material to work with.

I really couldn't bear it. Could you imagine what Linda would be like and there would be no end to it. No, thank you very much.

To be fair, though, you hate the Carters so I doubt there's any storyline they could come up with, apart from their exit, which would meet your standards.

Lol that's true but seriously Linda would never stop moaning and going on about him and watching that week in week out would test even the most staunch Carter fans don't you think?

Kellie is going on maternity leave around the same time so it wouldn't be an issue. I'd imagine that she leaves after something happens to Lee, so whether or not that's him committing suicide or disappearing, I'm guessing Linda has some sort of mental breakdown and needs time away from the square. When she returns, she may be dealing with it better.

Well I could live with that scenario it might even br quite powerful to watch. At least grief has a beginning middle and end (of sorts) but living with a missing relative especially a child must be hell on earth
Tbh I would rather Lee died and see them deal with that.

My favourite storyline around that time of year, is still when Peggy found out Frank had been cheating on her with Pat, and she slapped them both. We ended up seeing the end of Frank, not sure if Mike Reid returned again before he died.

And you had a Very wet Pat in the square pineing

Max will return, but as his character in Red Dwarf. Shouting and threatening to kill everyone!

I think either scenario is plausible and potentially powerful, but my preference would be for him to go missing. I think it could give Mick especially the wake-up call he needs that the family's tendency to bury their head in the sand and ignore their problems or throw parties whenever things go wrong has ultimately failed Lee. Though I suppose he would also realise that if Lee committed suicide. I guess I like the idea of Lee coming back in a couple of years time to tell them exactly why he did it.
