Corrie - on location
It was good to be outside the bubble of the street last week, even if it was just the flats and at Cathy's brother in laws house.
More on the way I hope |

It probably costs them 10 times as much to shoot on location as it does at the Street set, so it's not something that's gonna happen often, I'm afraid.....

Corrie's always done locations, we've had a lot a the Dun & Gun for example over the last eighteen months. It may be more expensive to film but it does help to give the show a more rounded feel by showing some of the loacle away from the set. Just showing the street makes it appear very insular and it gets worse when they start talking about locations that we never see.
I'm not a fan of showing a week away camping or following them on a holiday in Blackpool, Ibiza or wherever but the odd day out, yes, and other nearby locations too. It's important to add that sense of reality as no-one really stays in a hundred yard radius of their house, even if they do happen to work in the same street as they llive on. |

I expect this is one thing Kate Oakes is going to find strange.
Because with Emmerdale has was able to go up to the Dales which are beautiful. With Corrie you are pretty much stuck to the street. |

I got quite sick of the "container" in Emmerdale that was used quite a few times to lock people up. There are plenty of mint locations within spitting distance of where Corrie is filmed if needed. If the story is good it doesn't matter where it's filmed though. |

I think the last time we saw anyone shopping outside The street was in April 2015 when Sarah and Bethany went shopping and saw Callum and eventually Bethany stole from the shop.
