Gifty
Hannah Barret

Absolute rubbish. I've been posting on Digital Spy since 2003 and Alexandra Burke was absolutely adored on here during her time on the show. Misha B was too, in fact the forum was against Tulisa for her treatment towards her. Rachel Hylton was another one who was popular on here and people were annoyed she went out so early. People didn't like Hannah Barrett because she was just average and people didn't like Tamera because the show was shoving her down the viewers throats as if she was the new Jesus Christ. As for Fleur East, there are many, many people here who love her which is evident from the many Fleur threads that appear on the forum...of course there's people who don't like her. Apart from Alexandra Burke and Misha B, I dislike every single person on your list...I think they're all either overrated or below par singers. Does that make me racist? Because that's what your post is alluding too. There's no point trying to wriggle out of it either as the fact that your post begins with "Every mixed race woman to come on the show is called arrogant and unlikeable..." makes your thoughts very clear.

So, Gifty is similar to the mixed girls I listed okay - sassy, stage presence, confidence and sure of herself knows who she is ..... She isn't a white contestant agreed? Yes therefore I said there are other girls of mixed who had a hard time on this forum because of the same reasons, then everyone jumped on me - saying I called them a racist when I didn't name any names and I wasn't even speaking to anyone in particular and social media in general - have to ask myself why people are getting so touchy,”

Sorry Eva but that is BS. Find me one post where someone claimed you accused THEM of racism. And if your last line isn't a passive aggressive dig then I don't know what is.

YOU brought race into the thread, no one. People then proceeded to challenge your generalizations and then YOU decided to make it personal by saying some are saying you called them racist - when no one has said that they see it as aimed at them.

The snidey comments by another FM about coming pout of the woodwork and some having a guilty conscience as as blatant accusations as I've seen on DS in a while and all over a few contestants in a tv karaoke contest - you really take it that seriously do you?

So people getting ahead of themselves and speaking to me like shit, because of an opinion so I listed the white contestants though they are completely irrelevant as this is a thread about Gifty the mixed singer.... Is that explained enough for you all?”

Look you made it about race and your post, whether you meant to or not, alludes to people who dislike Gifty having a problem with her because of her skin colour.

As you went on to prove, this forum also has a problem with white female singers with confidence, so there was no need for you to single out any race unless you truly believe it it because of her race, which you deny.

So don't sit and act all innocent and perplexed as to why people are 'touchy' when most people would feel offended if it was being implied they were racist.

Also once again you are implying people have racial issues with this statement you made, 'I have to ask myself why people are getting so touchy'.

I don't know about anybody else, but this thread has certainly convinced me to vote for Gifti if she is through. I hang my head in shame at not liking her previously.

I liked her last year and think her audition this time was very good, if a bit too try hard. She was dreadful last night though and I don't think there is anything wrong with stating someone you've previously liked had a bad night rather than blindly defending them.

I think she's got something but I'll reserve judgement until we get to the lives and lets see the wheat separated from the chaff

Hi

We attempted to leave this thread open to continue the discussion but it seems it's going in circles. Disliking someone isn't always based on race and at the same time there's no harm in discussing the general issues surrounding audience reception and if race can be a factor. This isn't happening in this thread. Most posts have become accusatory arguments with no real productive discussion being had and for this reason we're closing the thread.
