I went out to buy some black trousers today for a do we've got coming up. I wanted a tapered cut, not skinny but more tapered than straight. I went to Next, Matalan, Tesco and Monsoon. Are they coming back into fashion? Have I really got to drag all my bootcut jeans out of the dark depths of my wardrobe?

How about trying Cotton Traders, they are on sale now, might have some straight legs.

Your post isn't very clear, are you saying these places had bootcuts but didn't have tapered cut you wanted?

Yeah I'd tend to avoid bootcut if possible....they are such an awkward cut

I think bootcut is okay and very practical especially since winter is coming. A blog my friend writes for had a decent text on how to prepare for winter.

It shouldn't be a matter of fashion. Different types of cut suit people according to their build and height. We should always be able to get the type that favours us.

Absolutely! I like bootcuts as they make my short legs look longer. A decent shop should stock a variety of cuts so that everyone can choose the best style for their body shape and leg length.

My friend lives in Italy and emailed me a few weeks back to say bootcut was everywhere out there!
To be honest we've been in skinny so long, old ladies are wearing them!
Yes, if you're lucky enough to still have them, dig 'em out...they are definitely on the way back.

Good! I'm so bored with skinnies. If you have long, lean legs they look fantastic, but many of us don't - yet many still wear them and it does them no favours whatsoever. Bootcut is a much more flattering cut (imo)

I agree. I am struggling in this world of skinny fit. They do nothing to flatter me and the wide leg that seems to be offered as an alternative is worse. Please bring back boot cuts and while we are at it can we have a higher rise too. I am fed up with the gaping 'waist' at the back of my trousers and the insecurity of having them drifting in some no man's land between my waist and hip.

You're describing my type of jeans!

I like both skinny, for tucking into boots, but definitely boot cut for wearing over boots with heels. Having short legs, it's definitely the most flattering - just don't over-shorten them, as I did one pair.

Next do some jeans that are wonderfully fitted and cut - not cheap, have never spent so much on a pair (£45), but I love them and now have a straight leg pair and darker denim boot cut.
