Any Hed Kandi fans from the early '00s will know this guy; he had a couple of absolutely banging tracks including this one:

Hmm.. disappointed that he feels he has to go down this route and that he's probably already got plenty of contacts in the industry and is taking a valuable opportunity away from someone who needs it more.

I've heard of Hed Kandi before but never of Peyton (until last night that is).

It does make me mad when talented people feel the need to take a chance with the X Factor; and you're right it is also denies someone without a foot in the door the potential to win a glorified karaoke competition.

Needs it more??? All these kids need is a dose of reality and an application form for McDonalds. You're really saying someone older with proven talent shouldn't apply so as to make way for youth? Not so much.

Going by his videos on his own youtube channel he seems to have quite a successful career, I wonder if this is just to get himself a bit more publicity rather than a serious belief he needs to win the x factor.

I actually hope it is. The show's line-up is looking more and more circus-like every day now, and I suspect no good comes from being an proper, serious musician, trying to keep your dignity, when Honey G and the boys in bacofoil are dancing around on the same stage as you!

He's one of my favourite voices in this year's competition, so I'll be happy just to see him singing at judges' houses. Fingers crossed they can actually afford him enough screen time to sing a full song! God knows we'll have to endure at least 15 minutes of 'The Honey G Comeback' in next week's show!

Effectively, this should just be treated as some useful publicity to remind the people in the industry that he's still working, and keen to be part of a specific section of the industry. However, it is ridiculous to suggest that he's somehow too talented to be on the show at all. It just shows just how far down the drain the expectations of XF participants has gone, if actual talent and previous minor success rules him out!

I must admit, I've seen him in Ibiza before and know I'll Rise and Higher Place really well. However, both of those are over a decade old so maybe he's had enough of just singing them in clubs every summer, wants to get his material out there and is using the show for exposure

No. No, that's not what I said at all.
