Earlier today, Marc Anwar (Sharif Nazir) was sacked for posting some horrendously racist comments on twitter

If Bill Roache said what Marc Anwar said today he would have been suspended and the given a final warning

But Karma came and bit him hard.... When he ended up in the dock being falsely accused

In an interview with a New Zealand current affairs show a couple of years ago he said that sex abuse victims bring it upon themselves and that the perpetrators should be forgiven.

Felt a bit differently I'll bet, on his daily attendance at Court. I've always found the ( no-good) actor creepy, personally.

Yes what Roache said about sex abuse victims was absolutely disgraceful. Def. some double standards going on.

Also, while not a sackable offence, I found his recent comments about Anne Kirkbride being an alcoholic who held up filming distasteful.

That is the judge, jury and executioner these days. The people decide and whatever Twitter makes a big deal of that's who gets into trouble, loses their job and in some cases get arrested.

He must have had someone else's tongue in his cheek when he made thar statement. This is why higher education has to be encouraged, it gives you the ability to talk out of both sides of your mouth, even with someone else's tongue in your cheek. Current affairs to Ken means that slapper on the barge or Audhree so he might have misunderstood what the interview was about and was confused. He has since said that it was 1867 when he made those remarks but now that it's 1878 these remarks are unacceptable.

I think they are reducing Ken's scenes, because the whole Freddie Vs Ken thing didn't really happen did it? Now he gets the occasional comment. Maybe his age is starting to take it's toll on his ability to remember lines etc.

As for the breaking the law argument; did Chris Fountain break the law or did he just do/say something offensive/distasteful?

I thought his comments about Anne were thoroughly vile. If a friend and colleague has just passed away after a brave battle with cancer, why on earth would you make unpleasant accusations about them that will tarnish their good name? The man is just odd.

I agree. What he said about Anne was horrible, as for his comments about sexual abuse victims idk how anyone can hold such disgusting views.

I know and this is a topic from rapping culture. It doesn't making it excusable or acceptable though. It's vile. Bill Roache said that victims of sexual abuse bring it upon themselves and that people should forgive the perpetrators of child sex crimes. It's still arguable that Chris Fountain's rapping and William Roache's comments are equally disgusting.

Fountain was sacked Roache wasn't.

Roache needs to keep his views to himself instead of boasting about sleeping with 1000 women and bitching about his colleague Anne Kirkbride only a few months after her death.

However, regardless of how offensive his opinions may be, they aren't actually against the law. The other guy's racist comments were against the law, hence him being fired and Bill Roache still being there.

I know that racist comments are against the law. Therefore, Corrie had a good case and sacked him.

However, this thread is about William Roache's comments. My point was about his remark about victims of sex attacks deserving it. When Glenn Hoddle made offensive remarks about disabled people he was sacked from his job as England manager. When Chris Fountain rapped bout raping women he was sacked from Corrie.

Did Chris Fountain break the law? Did Glenn Hoddle break the law? Or was it just the offensive nature of their words which got them sacked?

If it was the latter, then Roache should also have been sacked.

Did Rita get a caution for drink driving too? she should have been out on her ass for that. Drink driving can kill people. If an example ever should have been made that was it.
