The actor who played Len Fairclough was given the boot by Corrie after a court case where he was found innocent. Afterwards he sold his story to a newspaper. So Corrie sacked him for that. Maybe he broke his contract by doing so.

Ivy Tilley was sacked for getting lip filler.

Apart from this recent incident which was undoubtedly a solid case for dismisal, it seems Corrie pick and choose who they sack. The OP has made a valid point. It seems that William Roache is untouchable. Although I suspect that behind the scenes he could have been told to keep his gob shut. And I would guess he's not the only one!

Barbara Knox should have been fired over the drink drive thing. Even more so when you consider it took a whole year for her to admit she did it which resulted in her wasting court time. Had she not admitted what she did and then been found guilty she may have even ended up in prison. I remember the judge being really unimpressed with her behaviour. If it was one of the younger Corrie stars no way would they have got away with it.

Lord knows why they regard him as an icon - he's a terrible actor and probably stayed with Corrie because he knew he wouldn't get anything else!

Like him or not he is an iconic character.
