Strange fault on BBC programmes with Humax 9300
I have two Humax 9300 machines. Recently one of these has exhibited sound and
picture drop out only on BBC recordings. I thought that this could be the HDD and replaced it but it made no difference. I then wondered if it may be due to poor signal strength and exchanged it for the other machine in another room. Again no difference and the problem still appears. Could this be some kind of internal tuner failure but just on BBC channels or is there any other way of solving the problem without replacement of the machine?? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.. |

Check the signal strength using its built in metering against the same channels on the other Humax using the same aerial outlet and cable. If signal levels are low due to an aerial problem it is probable that one unit will fail, starting with the weakest channels, before the other, check all the other multiplexes at the same time. No point in anyone speculating until you have done that.

BBC programme faults
Thanks Martin for your reply. This fault has been present for a few months but
there have been no changes as far as I know with transmitters. It only appears with BBC programmes and consists of momentary sound drop out and some picture break up with flashing lines, some times picture freezes. The fault appears with both room aerial setups but my other 9300 works perfectly on either aerial. Is this easy to repair if a tuner fault or is it a case of taking out the 500 GB hard drive which seems to be OK as it records other programmes without fault, scrapping the machine and getting a used one from ebay. Any advice would be appreciated |

Check that there is no hdmi or other leads close to the aerial coax ......
Lightly screened hdmi radiate into the coax quite well if close enough and are very frequency selective, |

Strange fault on 9300
It seems to appear on all recordings of BBC programmes being BBC1, BBC2, BBC 4
does not happen with ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 or other minority channels. |

Strange Problem with Humax 9300
Yes Martin it does occur when watching live tv through the Humax loop through
but not when watching when Humax switched off. The same happened when this was connected to our other room aerial setup which is now feeding our second 9300 without problem no cabling having been changed. I have checked all cables and coax plugs and still feel it is a tuner problem. If this is so is it repairable or better to replace. I had thought of a machine from ebay and removing the 500 GB HDD from the problem machine to use as a spare as repair costs if indeed one can find a repairer could be excessive. |

Do you mean you are watching, say, BBC 1 with the Humax switched on and the TV source set to the SCART input the Humax is plugged into. Or that you have selected BBC 1 on the TV independently of the Humax? Only the former involves the Humax tuner so only that will tell you if it is affecting only the Humax. If the TV's tuner is similarly affected then the problem is possibly external to the Humax. |

Problem on 9300
Hi Chris, Problem only occurs when using Humax either on recordings or on
live television loop through, it does not occur when watching live television purely through the set without the use of the Humax. |

Strange problem on 9300
Hi Chris, just to confirm the problem DOES not exist when using the TV set internal tuner, only when Humax is involved. Hope this helps.
