my friend just lost two weeks of photos from a holiday on her 7 Edge. Phone died and turned out that Samsung cloud backup wasn't working.

Just converted from iPhone, suffice to say she won't be getting another samsung.

But that's not completely Samsung's fault. I have backups of my photos to Dropbox and Google photos just in case. I also backup my Dropbox onto my laptop, and these aren't even important photos, just crap taken with my phone.

Backups can fail on iOS too!

Wasn't working or wasn't set up correctly?

The guy does tech support, I am pretty certain he would have switch it on for his girlfriend, got the phone for her.

Also should mention that on the same trip, his brand new S7 (not edge) decided to corrupt the SD card half way through the trip.

In that case why the hell wasn't Google Photos set up aswell? Such an easy and useful solution to the issue of photo backups and transferring between devices.
