Coronation Street: Should they have recast Sharif?

I realize that recasts are generally frowned upon on the UK soaps, but I think since Sharif wasn't a long term character they could have recast and no one would have really cared. Anyone else agree with me?”
Cared? I doubt anyone would even notice.

I remember the lovely Hayley from H&A changing heads for a while to someone who looked absolutely nothing like the original!! It was bizarre & awful!!

The worst one I've seen was Blair on One Life To Live, when she first came on the show she was Asian, then they recast the role with Kassie DePiva who is white with a southern accent.

Selina changed heads too as well as Libby from Neighbours who became really bland for a few months. Oh and Cheryl changed into the woman who's now Sheila Canning - she aged about 10 years overnight. Then old younger Cheryl reappeared as if by magic.
This isn't Eastenders you know.
Nope. It's rare for adult regular characters to be recast. The only ones who get recast are small children (or characters with a few headswaps since newborn eg Nick Tilsley) or recurring/guest characters who may disappear for years and have a new head (like Tina McIntyre's mother).
It isn't going to happen with Sharif. If the producers were ever interested in just recasting they would have used it for their problems in the past with the many sackings of actors that have gone on.
