Brings back some memories but I could probably only name about half of them (well maybe a bit more than half).

I like anthology comics but never quite thought 2000ad gave enough away in terms of stories each issue. Having said that, I'm a big fan of Rogue Trooper and think it's brilliant that they've made it to issue 2k

2000 AD's 2,000th issue sells out in under 48 hours! 2000 AD's landmark 2,000th issue has sold out less than 48 hours after hitting shelves across the UK and Ireland – and, for the first time, an issue will be going to a second printing! Great achievement. ![]() With the exception of new story - Counterfeit Girl - 2000AD Prog 2000 is very much a retro-prog, celebrating the past. It's a "thank you" issue to all the fans that have supported the comic for almost 40 years. Prog 2001 - out next week - will be a regular issue of 2000AD and a good jumping on point for newer readers and those that haven't read the comic in a while.

I have the first thousand issues (I can still remember buying the first issue aged 6 all those years ago. I also remember losing my red Space Spinner in my neighbour's roof guttering in the same day! Thankfully though, I kept my bionic stickers on the backing-sheet and still have them.) and due to space in the place I was living at back in the mid-90s, I thought that Prog:1000 was a good jumping off point.
I occasionally peeped into the odd issue down the line but felt disconnected with it, I guess the old-school 'kid friendly' 2000AD appealed to me more. I've picked up Prog:2000 and I was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting not to like it but it certainly has that nostalgic feel to it and it's nice to see a few returning artists and writers in the mix. In the strip Sinister Dexter, there's a character that looks suspiciously like Billie Piper as Rose Tyler. |
