I thought that Abbey's waltz with Aljaz was better than Daisy's. I remember being amazed by it and felt the only reason she didn't get 9s or 10s was because it was week 1.

Austin's waltz with Erin to a Kermit song has surely got to be the best ever week 1 dance?

I can't remember a better first week dance than Danny Mac's cha cha.

I'd agree with that. Not necessarily the one I've enjoyed the most, but in terms of technique, detail and just sheer confidence in his performance, I think it could be the best first week dance ever.

I agree, I couldn't tell at first who was the professional and who was the 'celeb'.

I think probably Danny Mac too. Hard to believe it was a first-week dance.

For me, Kara's week 1 Cha-Cha is still the best debut for me. Even with the tumble, she just looked like a pro.

I loved that one too - she looked like a young Audrey Hepburn and was utterly brilliant.

Was nice of her to let Ann Widdecombe borrow the costume after, too. What a sweetie!

Just realised I'm talking complete rubbish just for a change. I'm thinking of Kara's quickstep. Sorry. Please ignore me.

Eh, not like I've never made a regrettable comment on here

I was beginning to wonder when Audrey Hepburn had worn leopard print and leather...

I think it was close to it, certainly for someone coming in without any real dance training as far as I can tell. Certainly in terms of waltzes I can only remember liking Austin's as much out the gate (Abbey's I never really got the fuss over).

Another vote for Danny Mac from me. He was fantastic and Oti was amazing. The standard was just absurdly high. I felt rather sorry for Ed Balls and Lesley Joseph at the bottom of the table - not because they didn't deserve to be there - they were the weakest - but because they did well and were not at all dufferish.

Danny & Oti for me too.

I was supporting them from the moment they were paired... and they did not let me down. However, love them as I do, I hope Danny doesn't fall into 'Peter Andre territory' in terms with coming out with a spectacular first performance (as Peter did with his Cha Cha Cha last year) and then fading as the competition goes on...I'm keeping the faith whatever!

I think he's had way more previous training then Peter Andre. Peter Andre also was a bit lazy.

As I recall (or at least, YouTube tells me ) Len actually said "That was the best first dance by a man I have ever seen".

Yeah, I never really got Abbey's waltz either

Yes, Ricky Whittle's the only other guy Len's giving a 9 to for their first dance (also a waltz)

That soft-porn shoe shuffle was no waltz.
I distinctly remember watching it and having a real WTF? moment.
It's the reason it took me so long to stop loathing Alli-Jazz

Well its obvs that a lot of them have dancing experience, including danny mac AND DAISY AND LOUISE REDKNAPP AND WILL YOUNG.. Its also hard to imagine someone like naga doing nothing since feb (when she knew she was on the show) until 3 weeks ago...its 'absurd' to think they wouldn't get private lessons like clancy did.
I enjoyed judge rinder most. Just based on entertainment. The 'dancers' can wait awhile for me...

didn't she pull a face because it wasn't perfection too? Even at that stage?

So Daisy's experience of doing some dancing on the spot in a couple of music videos is comparable to a couple of years of real training in things like ballet, tap and jazz?
