Sonia also had a full time job and was clearly paying bills (or Tina wouldn't be struggling financially without her now) but Tina felt it was okay to spend her free time drinking with Shirley or sunbathing whilst Sonia was expected to spend all her free time looking after Sylvie.
I also suspect that Sonia's hours as a Nurse were longer (probably 8 or 16 hour shifts) than Tina's at the cafe. Plus, she was having to travel there whereas Tina works across the road. Plus of course, Sonia had a daughter that needed time and attention.
I'm not disputing that Tina was working and it is very hard to combine that with being a Carer but so was Sonia and I would argue in a more taxing job, mentally, emotionally and physically.
I don't dislike Tina per se. I think she is by far the 'nicest' of the Carters, her heart is in the right place and she is played by a good actress.
But she is a child trapped in a woman's body much of the time which can be quite annoying and she has been very selfish re her insisting on taking Sylvie in and then dumping the majority of the work onto Sonia.
At least she is recognising what she did to Sonia and how wonderful Sonia was these past few months now. And her genuine concern and affection towards Bex is quite sweet.
