Why does everyone seem to hate Tina?

I really enjoy her scenes and think she is well-acted and realistic. I think the scenes of her struggling to look after her mum with dementia are really good.

She's been pretty decent recently but she's been a terribly written character for a long time so I think it will take people a while to warm up to her.

I dislike the selfish and immature Tina who has a horrible attitude sometimes but I think the actress playing her is quite good as she shows a different side to Tina in rare scenes like the conversation with Shirley about struggling tonight which I enjoyed. I do wish she would allow Sylvie to return to some specialist care though as it would be better for her, since none of the Carters can look after her properly while holding down their full time jobs and own lives.

I have a lot of respect for carers but sadly not for Tina
For the first ever, Tina has had to get off her arse and actually sort her mother out herself. While she and her family sat back and allowed Dame Sonia to do all the work. I had no sympathy or love for her at all tonight. She is selfish and childish.

Anybody would find looking after a person with Dementia challenging, and having to fit her job around it must be very difficult, so I think she should be cut some slack.

She is deadwood and needs to be axed.

You clearly missed the complete point of my post. Or never even read it. It has nothing to do with the challenges of looking after a dementia patient. It's about how selfish and lazy Tina is. She's only taking charge because Sonia did all the work but had the guts to leave. When it should of been a joint partnership in them both looking after Sylvie

I doubt it - I think he will axe at least three or four more.

I don't get the Tina hate either, have liked her from day one. I felt Sonia dragged her down a lot though. As a carer for my disabled mother I found Tina's struggles with her mum really close to home, especially the fact she has family nearby reluctant to lift a finger to help leaving her to do it alone. That is the situation I am in too, family two miles away who never want to help out despite all my mum has done for them.

She had people to help Sonia and Louise, and she buggered off all the time and left them to do it all.

I have been neutral towards her but recently she has been grating on me. Still dont hate her but she needs to grow up.

BIB - A joint partnership between Tina and her siblings, but not with Sonia.

That's your view on what feels like every character bar Cora and Sharon.

I've always been a fan of the actress who plays her and I don't dislike Tina, but for a woman of 40 she's very immature so I can understand why Sonia ended the relationship. It's hard work living with a grown adult that you feel you have to take care of like another kid let alone deal with a stressful job and taking care of her real child.

She didn't bugger off all the time. She went to work to pay the bills

Sonia also had a full time job and was clearly paying bills (or Tina wouldn't be struggling financially without her now) but Tina felt it was okay to spend her free time drinking with Shirley or sunbathing whilst Sonia was expected to spend all her free time looking after Sylvie.

I also suspect that Sonia's hours as a Nurse were longer (probably 8 or 16 hour shifts) than Tina's at the cafe. Plus, she was having to travel there whereas Tina works across the road. Plus of course, Sonia had a daughter that needed time and attention.

I'm not disputing that Tina was working and it is very hard to combine that with being a Carer but so was Sonia and I would argue in a more taxing job, mentally, emotionally and physically.

I don't dislike Tina per se. I think she is by far the 'nicest' of the Carters, her heart is in the right place and she is played by a good actress.

But she is a child trapped in a woman's body much of the time which can be quite annoying and she has been very selfish re her insisting on taking Sylvie in and then dumping the majority of the work onto Sonia.

At least she is recognising what she did to Sonia and how wonderful Sonia was these past few months now. And her genuine concern and affection towards Bex is quite sweet.

She's amazing. Working in a 'cafe' and being able to afford a castle. It used to house Carol, her husband, Bianca, her husband, his kids, her 4 kids. With all their housing benefits and child benefit they always moaned. Not Tina, she's always got new glitter on her face.

Nope, that sounds perfect to me.

This is exactly why I can't stand her. Couldn't sum it up any better.
