It's the same repeated storylines and nothing good is happening

I've stopped watching live as it's too boring to sit through, skip through loads on catch up

Ive enjoyed the last couple of episodes more than most that have aired this year. Nothing much is going on but the writing has improved.

Yes. On par with 2013 and absolutely no redeeming features currently. There are no storylines and every character is boring. There is no point in watching the show at the moment.

I don't mind everyday episodes if they're written well and there's a decent flow to them. I wouldn't want years on end of this type of material but after DTC's last year, which mostly stunk, I'm glad we're getting back to character again and I'm happy to watch it for a bit whilst SOC gets his house in order.
The big stories will come and when they do I hope they're not as sensationalist as many of DTC's were. I also hope there's a balance and the sort of stuff we're seeing now plays around the big stories. Everyday scenes go a long way to making viewers care about characters. |

Is it still DTC's work or is SOC's work now?

It's a bit depressing when everyday scenes, which have always been part of the show and have their place (the issues occur with balance), are called 'dull'. If they were poorly written/the interaction between characters wasn't good I could understand it more but it is so I don't see the problem personally. I get the concern that there isn't a big storyline at the moment as well but I think that's because 1) SOC is just getting started and 2) the show needed grounding somewhat after DTC. A lot of characters were left burnt out by the DTC regime and need lighter material/toning down in order to restore them somewhat. |

What ee needs to do is recycle its classic 90s storylines, its worked for emmerdale the past couple of years, I wonder what storylines kate oates will nick for corrie.

I stopped watching a few months ago. Ian's 'son' came back, partnered with his sons girlfriend, the guy who tried to kill his wife. No problem .Welcome home .The character is slimy and I've only been able to watch him a few rines. The nice young ones, Jay and Lola have gone.

SOC's I believe but it is early days.

A lot of characters were left burnt out by the DTC regime and need lighter material/toning down in order to restore them somewhat. I'm actually enjoying the 'everydayness' of EE at the moment. No killers/murders (for now but I have no doubts they'll be back), no 'gangsters' just everyday problems including finding a place to live you can afford, bins not getting emptied, misuse of disabled badges (done with a bit of humour as it's Kim), affairs breaking up, someone's partner leaving them, having to deal with a crabby alzheimers mum whilst holding down a job (especially now your nurse partner has left), a family dealing with their patriarch being floored by his diseased liver and how they're coping with it, watching grandparents bereft at losing their only grandchild after they'd also lost their son, a family coping with one of their members being newly disabled, a young man struggling with depression. Whatever OTT'ness (in some cases) that led to these storylines It's all stuff we can relate to/empathise at the moment but perhaps that's the problem for some viewers? They like to be taken out of it for a while?. But I don't see what the problem is myself as the writing has improved no end to me. |

The Phil storyline has been dragging on for me for too long onscreen.
Ironically the characters that are being focused on currently are not as enthralling as some who are due to leave ie The Cokers. We could do with a fresh character with some charisma and intrigue. Portrayed by a competent performer in the mould of a Steve Owen or Chrissie |

I am finding it very dull. A very "pc" storyline with Kim Fox using a blue badge and what is the betting she will get caught!!

I hope the show doesn't go back to basics, because it sucks. I like it when its dramatic and campy.

2013 was the worst period of EE I can remember, it was full of unlikeable characters and tedious storylines. At the moment the show is quiet but it's by no means as unwatchable as it become 3-4 years ago. |
