How many times did we hear THIS over the weekend. And it was most cringeworthy from that sad desperate has-been Rebekah Ryan who had a record contract in the 1990s and amounted to nothing . She never got any further than 1 hit for a reason.

It's cringeworthyness of the highest order.

It is sad and uncomfortable to watch.

The thing is,the ones who beg are the ones who really do need the show to succeed. They need to direction the trickery, the hype and the assured gigs and contracts. You won't ever see one of the really great singers with artistry and experience beg that way, because, while they benefit from the exposure, they don't "neeeed" it.They just want it, and if they don't get it via the show, they know there are other good if slower options.

It is really uncomfortable to watch sometimes, their dignity just goes out the window, really wish XF wouldn't do that to people but then it's a tv programme with bucket loads of drama so it's to be expected yet still uncomfortable viewing

Yeah plz dont do the begging thing, I actually liked Rebekah Ryan until that moment, just sooooooooo cringeworthy. I guess the pressure does get to people and they begin to act completely out of character.

OTOH, if they are confident enough to say that they deserve to go through, they are accused of being arrogant.

It's a tough spot.

Its so undignified. Has it ever worked? I can't see one of the judges going 'you know what, you were absolutely sh*t but seeing as you've got desperation oozing out of every pore and absolutely no self respect or dignity, I'm going to take a chance on you'

They only neeeed it because of a sense of entitlement that's been drummed into the youth of today. Thankfully X Factor is the antithesis of all this, where one by one each of these desperados has their dreams crushed.
Let's face it, most of us don't watch in order to see people succeed, we watch cos we enjoy seeing talentless chimps dealt a reality check.

I don't think that using the word 'Chimps' when referring to people is very appropriate .IMO.

Anyone saying that is basically they want to be famous and don't care how it happens. If they had any dignity, talent and self worth then they wouldn't beg. If they are that good they will get discovered in other ways.

I think they should realise the minute they start begging they have already lost....

Yeah, it's best not to start begging because if you don't, the judges won't think less of you if you return next year. That fella with the goatee beard was right when he told his singing partner that they should keep their dignity if they lost their chair. I know it's a slightly different thing but they would have still been rejected though if that had happened.

They seem like really down to earth people. No entitlement, like they would work hard if you pick them

Maybe you should brush up on your English. I used chimp as a synonym for ape, in the definition of ape of 'an unintelligent or clumsy person'.

I'm guessing you don't like the use of ape either haha!

TBH I Really don't watch it because I like seeing peoples dreams crushed, if anyone does then they really need to have a serious look at themselves.

I'm starting with the man in the mirror.

Pur-lease, the whole concept of the 6 chair challenge is to give people something and take it away. If this wasn't a popular concept then Cowell would have axed it. Likewise week after week the weak are removed from the show.

Nah, I actually think the concept is built on the SUSPENSE of WHO could lose their seat and all the drama surrounding it and SUSPENSE of not knowing how the audience will react etc and the high pressure situation the contestants face. Noone watches it because they just want to see dreams crushed, how boring/pyscho is that? I hope your in the minority.

Totally agree that was very uncomfortable and embarrassing to watch . How desperate was that.

I know! Glad she didn't get any further. Though I would rather see her in the top 12 than the hideous scummy G.

Exactly LOL!

No, it's an insult to chimps to compare them to the individuals who are on this show.

The six seat challenge is a pathetic load. The people who are gonna be in the live shows are decided very early on. WAY before this! Just like scummy G being in the live shows. That was decided early on too... You could tell, even when she said 'Sharon has made a mistake letting me go,' she knew she was coming back.

The strange thing this, all the begging about how much they need it, it's their only chance blah blah, it doesn't even make sense.

Unless they finish in the top 3, it's pretty much a one way ticket to music career suicide anyway. They'll soon be last weeks news and long forgotten, just someone we look back on and laugh about.

And even if they win, they've got what, a 50/50 chance of one album before disappearing into obscurity?
Then what? The money's run out and they are back to where they started serving pints or scrubbing toilets.
And unless they beat the odds, they'll be forever tainted by the association of the X Factor, which must be a "don't touch me with a bargepole" badge for other labels.

IIRC the "£1million recording contract" was whistle blown a few years ago and that figure is before expenses, so after they deduct agents fee's, managameent fee's, styling fee's, costumes, studio time, travel, hotels, production costs, PR and advertising, they are left with 15p and a bag of crisps.

Win or lose, when I hear them begging for the chance, I always envisage that they are begging to end up here in the near future:
