I used to like them both.... then they both began to believe their own hype and self-promotion.

Both have become too big for their boots and seem to have just become two bitter, resentful people who bit the hand that fed them and have now decided to go down a rather sleazy career path, rather than one which would give them greater security and credibility for the future.

Trying to capitalise on Ola's image is only going to work for the short term. The Ann Summers thing is unbelievably tacky and frankly it was clearly only Ola they actually wanted. However, as she always seems happy to get her kit off for the price of a bag of Wotsits, I guess she insisted that James was involved too...

Sadly, the net result is that Ola looks rather desperate and James just looks like a sad sack.

I agree with you. I really used to like them both and enjoyed their performances on Strictly - well apart from Ola's last years where she just didnt seem interested any more.

I find it sad the way they have gone, it's short term gain ( and possibly not a lot of gain ) versus long term stability of teaching etc...

They do still teach and probably will do for several years yet. They still do dems and shows up and around the Country, so must still earn a good living off the back of SCD.

Their problem is that James has no regular source of income and they are very dependant upon the success of this book to keep them in the style to which they have become accustomed. Therefore they will sell their souls if it generates cash.

Maybe if they had not believed their own hype, they would still be dancing on prime time TV

James played the part of the pantie... sorry, PANTO villain to perfection but the really dodgy bit was when he got his Widow Twanky out to dance the Pasodoble with his two "ugly sisters"!

Proper panto is pretty well-paid and a very good gig to get, but ballroom doesn't usually feature and I've never registered the Jordans as actor/singers.

Agreed . James can be a bit personality wise , but regarding judging Strictly contestants of a Sat evening he gets it spot on and isn't afraid to call a spade a spade .

He still teaches dance though . Not regularly but in specially arranged lessons . Plus he and Ola do demonstrations and special appearances at big functions . I'd guess financially they are doing OK and I suspect they might be talking about babies some time soon anyway so she is happy to start winding down slightly .

It's interesting how your perception of people changes over time.

James - I still the video of him and Georgina saying what they were looking for in a dance partner and how they approached things and thinking oh dear - this is a partnership made in hell. Also that he was also kinda of cute.

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt - someone on the least fav couple thread about Brendan and Sarah Manners and what his SCD career might have been like had he her first - I think James and George gives us a pretty good idea. I felt it was just classic incompatibility and I read some places she was kinda of lazy. Her recent backstage insights were a bit strange too.

I forgave him getting upset during Sargeantgate - hubbie didn't he thought he was an arse over that but again two undeserved early baths in favour of a duffer that's gotta pee you off. Then it happened again the next year. Then two years he did a roving report thing that was quite fun and there was a bromantic rhumba with Artem. Brian Fortuna said him and Old had been pretty welcoming towards him and James seemed like Matt DA and his red button commentry for series five was interesting and fair-handed. Then came Alex Jones - what made me realise that James might actually be kinda of a bit of a tit was that after being peeved at being voted off by the public in favour of a duffer he was suddenly all 'don't trust the judges it's the public that matters' contradictory and hypocritical much? Then came Denise - the wasn't really the type of person that many pros were going to be endearing paired with and James although he got on with her you almost felt that it made both of them a bit less cuddly.

In some ways the writing was on the wall in his final series when got someone neither talented or sympathetic. In some ways I think that he was unlucky in his brand of stick and arguing with the judges just got tired. Brendan was either savvy enough to realise it or become a parent mellowed him out enough to abandon it or maybe putting up with Lulu made him realise how tedious it was.

I think weirded a bit part of James's problems is he isn't media savy - he thinks he is but he isn't. He has no idea how to present himself in a way that will actually make people like him or persuade them too and although in a sense the producers did of dump him in the end. They did spend a few years trying almost desperately every way they could to make him sympathetic and in the end they kinda failed. In a way it's a shame because it's actually interesting when he analyses the dancing what he has to say - had he played his cards right he might have got to be an analyst or even eventually possibly a judge - judges do not have to be liked they just have to be trusted a bit. I'm actually curious what he has to say on this blog thing about that. I don't care about anything else he does.

Ola:
Like James Ola started off being robbed with Spoony and that made you feel for her. She was great with Kenny Logan although not so great with Andrew Castle you kinda of felt for her being the other pro who was almost dropped on her head. Then came Cola and it one of those great partnerships that made both of them endearing and showed a fun side of her. So where did it go wrong? Paul Daniels was something that you just knew had to happen to her (because after Craig Kelly it would have been unfair to do it to Flavia) and despite a possible lyric of a song 'you look so dumb' having a dig she handled reasonably well. The rot started to set in with Robbie Savage - there were a few observations that her chereography was all starting to look the same. There was quite a hideous routinue where he did a Micheal Jackson and trust his groin about all over the place. Hard to tell what was him and what was Ola but it made her look a bit tired. She didn't help herself the next year having a go at Iveta over chereography when she stepped in for Ola. Admitted the reason that Ola went to a parent's funeral wasn't one that generally puts people in a good mood but even so it made her look mean and ungrateful.

In some ways I think some of the obvious souring of her SCD experience the next year where legitimate - she got a good dancer for the first time in a while and then saddled with truly stupid theming that even the best chreographer in the world would struggle with - cowboy paso anyone. It was also so painfully obvious everyone involved in the production was angling for a female winner after two males on the trot. Ashley would have made it a hat trick of young attractive males winning and there was a terror that they'd never be able to entice another female celeb to compete again. If Ola is right it's also sucky that they were pestering the poor bloke into being fanservice for female and gay viewers when he wasn't happy with that.

However biting the hand that feeds is never attractive no matter how justified. I do think that it can't have been that great to find yourself on the show without your husband suddenly and she doesn't seem to have been happy. The problem was that it diminished her celeb's experience and he came across as a nice guy who didn't deserve that at least to me. They weren't at each other's throats but she didn't have a lot in common with him and it seemed at least that she was losing interest. Then came the cat fight with Karen. You really got the impression that the Jordans didn't like the Cliftons and it wasn't the fight itself it was the way it exposed that seemed to point to a long running falling out between the two camps. It was probably what contributed to James going too that and he'd never been popular and there was more affable eye candy amongst the pros and Brendan and Anton to ensure a sense of continuity. Then she injured herself doing The Jump and the writing seemed to on the wall. I was surprised to see her back actually and I think she was only really kept because she wanted to use the show as a meal ticket and they wanted her there as eye candy and continuity. However I think getting the worse contestant and going out first really commented things.

They I think just seemed to become increasingly bitter that they didn't like the way things were done in the new regime and although Kristina's and Ailona's comments have shown they were not alone in that - bitching isn't attractive and makes you look bitter and resentful. I hope that they do manage to come out it still being able to teach and make a living but it's pretty sad that what they're doing is looking pretty cheap.

IMO James is badly missed on the show as the current set of Pro's are like Robots that are scared stiff of Len and just accept the nasty comments makes.

As for some of the bile on here about Ola that is just Green Eyed Monster syndrome. She gets a lot of Money for what she does and I am sure any Female would do the same if they had her looks and Body.

I agree with you because it seems so. The nasty comments are actually dangerous. Anyone who defends them suddenly finds themselves in the firing line.

I wouldn't mind her looks or body... but I wouldn't be inclined to take my clothes off.

Exactly! Though to be honest that isn't really why I don't like Ola (or James for that matter). I've disliked them both for years. It's so lazy to say it's down to jealousy isn't it?

I don't think Ola is attractive at all (and James is awful, like the wimpiest thug ever).

There are plenty of absolutely beautiful female (and male pros) that I like very much. I think Natalie is a goddess! Flavia is exquisite.

But again the reason I dislike her has nothing to do with how she looks. It's partly because she seems very hard and a bit dim, which is not an attractive combo, and also because as the years went on her choreography became lazier and lazier - star jumps, knees slides then the old cliched cat suit when things were really desperate.

But as long as they stay on shows like Loose Women, which I wouldn't watch unless paid to do so, then good luck to them.
