I actually thought this week was miles better than last weeks episode. It was suitably creepy, skin faces and all (wtf were those stretched out people, was that even explained?). The nurse was hilarious, when she donned Karen's sunglasses lol

It still has epically dumb moments. Lets not finish off the nutter killer nurse while she's knocked out........30 seconds later........omg she's disappeared, let's go kill her!

In a week in which they destroyed the moon (I'm sure they'll stick rigorously to scientific accuracy for what would happen subsequently) , they would rather we were bothered about some hackneyed loony nurse plot straight out of the bottom-drawer of dozens of derivative horror movies.

It's saying something that Heche's performance while acting drugged wasn't much different to the one she gives the rest of the time. Surprised at how little her face gets remarked upon - Looked weirder than ever in that ep as she was devoid of her masking Aviator shades for most of it. Have done with it producers and give her some welder's goggles to cover up the disastrous surgery! Having slagged her off however, special "praise" must be reserved for her hubby giving an even more inept performance as he goes ga-ga succumbing to this ill-defined plague. I do hope the pair of them haven't kept a shelf clear in anticipation of awards and gongs in the future for any work they might do after this although frankly after Aftermath both their next lines should be "Would you like fries with that?".

Sort of, obviously for the sake of pedantry, it was a catastrophic multi-asteroidey impact, but yes - close enough. The real question is not just the spare bits falling in our general direction, it's also whether it's been pushed out of orbit, thus requiring some heroic space mission or a really big dragon to breathe on it.

Nice excuse for a fancy explosion, and as regards 'what happens next', the gravity of all those lumps is still there, so until it all spreads out to give us a ring we should still have tides and lunatics etc.

I did like the Hannibal face bit - yes, the one person surviving in a secure nut-house turns out to be nuts, there's a shocker though for some reason a stuffed meerkat on a tricycle didn't give me much cause for alarm because a sane person would have done that anyway

The Dad worked out that they were among the people who disappeared from Seattle due to their watches stopping at the same time that event happened.

So whatever happened to them in Seattle caused them to be transported hundreds of miles and stretched out.

Maybe a weird transporter? Possibly involving Wile E Coyote and a steamroller.

I'm not sure if it was the origin of the remark but in one of Terry Pratchett's books there is a note about the danger of seven-league boots being of course that taking a single stride of that length means that the front foot will be so very far ahead of the back foot while this is happening and not many people are quite so elastic as to be able to manage more than a single step.

There was so much going on in that episode, what with the loony nurse and the stuffed patients and Mad Mum losing her sunglasses and Dad going off his head and the moon exploding...I quite forgot about the stretched people!

I'm guessing most people (inc the dad's Father) got transported to whatever destination they were supposed to be (at a guess the same place the Dragons are flying to) while the stretched people were dropped along the way.

Actually I was wondering if I( might make a slight adjustment to my original theory - their watches stopped at the 'Seattle disaster time' so maybe they were on one of those travelators at the airport when it happened and the things went into overdrive and they were hanging onto the handrail which was going at the wrong speed and didn't spot the 'warning - spilt superglue' sign or that nobody else seemed to be using it either.

And the great thing about that version is that it's completely logical and we don't have to go into the levels of absurdity required to include a cartoon character.

Maybe they got fired off the top of an escalator that was going too fast, that might explain how they landed in a tree - though that does present another mystery, where are all the other passengers?

Less un-seriously, the stretched people did make me think of the two nasties in The Dyatlov Pass Incident* (recently shown on the Horror Channel) even if only in general form.

Dyatlov Pass was a good movie. The best elements of Lost but in service of a good story well-told by an old pro in Renny Harlin.

Hey great idea, get frustrated and run off separately to go and look for supplies and immediately get into trouble and have to be traded/rescued, did she take lessons from the girl in '24'?

And is there a sweepstake on the longevity of the new addition to the team, is she actually a love interest and therefore totally doomed or is she going to join them when they all stand in the rain of moon that's soon to be with us?

So......are we supposed to think that everyone in Seattle was outside when they were sucked off? No-one was at work or asleep, because I imagine a good ceiling would save you.

1) it's an apocalyptic swirly hoovery thing with splendid smutty-description potential
2) people were woken up when they heard all the screaming and wandered outside to see what the fuss was, because obviously you always head towards the apocalyptic noise with all the screaming (or the hypnotic light)
3) just those walking outdoors (instead of being in a car), which I understand is considered total weirdo behaviour over in the US unless it dragged everyone out of bed


If I was going to be hoovered up into the great oblivion whirlpool I can think of worse places to spend my dying moments than in the close company of a quality artex - but would that have been enough, were the ones this week just picking up the ones that got away?

I thought the idea was that after they had been to Seattle, it had been blown up, scooped out, hit by asteroids or been transported to the realm of shrimp and therefore 'gone', as it seems to be described now?

Actually I like a lot of the out-there mentalness of it the annoying thing about disaster-type shows/films is when the characters do things that just don't fit with who they are supposed to be, or things that are just so far off the end of the Stupid Scale it detracts from the next couple of scenes as you try and figure out WTF.
