Have they filmed all of these because I wouldn't be surprised if it gets shitcanned with unaired eps.

It's got everything you'd possibly want in an apocalyptic tv series

Except a decent storyline and good acting.

... Talk about everything but the kitchen sink!
...
There was a scene set in the kitchen though I guess that doesn't count if it's just part of the scenery. But presumably one will rain down soon enough

The bit I found unbelievable was where people living out in the middle of nowhere only had one single gun, when everyone knows that there would, somewhere in the house, normally have been an attempt at emulating Burt and Heather's basement from Tremors, and therefore have even a small selection of home defence equipment available, and perhaps even a spare or two for visitors.
Absolute proof that his show is completely nonsensical

I shall therefore be tuning in next week to see what they do with it now that we have the groundwork established.

It seemed to be striving for some of that off-kilter weirdness that Stephen King used to weave so skilfully into his huge doorstep books which is fine on the page bolstered by lots of detail (pads the page count nicely) but just chucking in flying zombies and mythical beasts because you can does not necessarily make for good television.

I might keep watching but only to see if Anne Heche gets killed off. Can't decide if she's cashing in a favour by being cast in this or being punished for past sins!!

Hopefully some Nazi Zombies in the next episode.

Interesting show. It's not particularly good but it's interesting enough for me to keep watching. You know something crazier is gong to pop up in the storyline.

Hopefully some Nazi Zombies in the next episode.
... and a talking Chihuahua. Once the animals start talking then it's truly the end of the world.

I know this is a completely weird thing to say but given the context I hope they don't go too far off the reality reservation - even the end of the world has its limits and a talking chuhwahwah (or a pug on loan from MiB...) would be going too far. Once I've taken on board the original premise I don't want to have to shift the reality again!

So is there a difference between people possessed and people who just went nuts, or does the departing evil not always show? I'm only going by what we did or did not see in relation to spirits being cast out - sharpened wood (e.g. tree stump) and lead are good repellents for all sorts of things - and whether the curse or cure are both always going to be permanent.
Or is it just that the budget wouldn't do the fancy effect every time? Just thinking of the attacking truckload.

I thought that some people were possessed by demons, and others went mad because they caught the fever? I guess the guards at the Quarantine Zone checkpoint didn't know about the demons, only the fever. I wonder why the demon doesn't enter the nearest person when its host dies, but flies off instead?

This was where my thinking was going, though I didn't want to be too definite in case they turned out to be one and the same thing but in different stages, e.g. the demons had to plant the nutso virus or something while looking for a suitable host.

I wonder why the demon doesn't enter the nearest person when its host dies, but flies off instead?
There's going to be some proper show-logic behind that, but I suspect the real reason is that it makes things far too complicated when you don't have airtight doors (like in Ghosts of Mars). Actually I think I do have some logic available - demons are spawn of satan, therefore it is completely reasonable to say that when they die they can only be re-spawned at particular locations.

The most bizarre scifi I've seen in a long while (and I like bad scifi movies).

A couple of things:
You live in the middle of nowhere, the sheriff warns you that people are acting insanely crazy (you've seen it for yourself) and you let random stranger into your home and feed him.
You know that the is no power, you know that weirdness is happening, yet you still let obviously creepy garage attendant fill your car and don't wonder what the red stuff is he's smearing on the windscreen until he produces the severed head.

Still, I'll be watching the next episode just to see if it gets any stranger.

Decent enough opening episode. Not stellar, but good enough for me to at least watch the next episode.

I can just imagine the writers when they first sat down to conceive the show :

Writer#1: So, guys, we finally got the greenlight to make our very own post-apocalyptic show! Woohoo!!

Writer#2: Yes! And at Syfy no less! We'll get huge budgets and awesome production values.

Writer #3: Okay, let's get the brainstorming session underway... What are we thinking in terms of the primary cause of the apocalypse? Zombies? Demons? A natural disaster? Donald Trump?

Writer #1: How about we just throw the kitchen sink at this show? Zombies, demons, meteorites, hurricanes, earthquakes, plagues, the works! Think of it like this: if The Walking Dead and Supernatural had a baby - it'd be called Aftermath !

Writer #3: Brilliant idea. You've totally sold that idea to me, dude.

Writer #1: And if our viewers get bored of the zombies and demons, there's always a meteor storm or a earthquake or a hurricane around the corner!

Writer #3: Very true. Our viewership certainly won't be bored that's for sure!

And to be fair, as batshit as this show is, you can't accuse it of being boring.

I am hoping that they come across a town which has been covered by a dome to protect it from the apocalypse, but all the people under the dome are just as crazy as those outside it.

Anne Heche doing her level best to make that happen.

Well he was the Sheriff's Nephew so not totally random.

Absolute bollocks - Bolting together bits of Walking Dead and Game of Thrones and thinking no-one would notice or care?!?!? Z Nation on Pick will be a palate cleanser after this garbage.

Should we be doing a body-count? Categorised as Good/Bad/Ugly, e.g. this week we have 3/0/2, unless we count the horse as well?

If you're in an apocalypse, don't ever ever ever trust someone who seems just a bit too suspiciously friendly and open, not ever. It's just pure dumb luck if they actually turn out not to be luring you into a trap as bait or food.

Also, watch the road signs when someone gives you a lift, even if they are trustworthy because you never know when what with being lost and trying to meet up with people trying to find you, you might, you know, get asked 'so where are you', at which point you can tell them which massive easily-readable sign you just went past!

Apart from that, good effort, but that mass of petrol cans on the roof is just dying to go badly pear-shaped...

"Stop trying to hurt my family"
He's just run about a mile away from your family. He's doing the complete opposite of that and you've chased him with a gun for no reason! lol

Genius episode That last scene was the definition of ridiculous. Cant wait for next week, we need a checklist of everything that's appeared. Im sure we've had everything but Aliens now

You say that but it was awfully convenient that that meteorite made a direct hit on the town that had been declared a safe zone
