Agree it was a much better opener than flash, but that is a low bar to set!
The show really needs to drop the romance drama aspect (hopefully it has) that swamped flash and really tighten up the storyline and get to the punch. By that I mean, take breaking bad for example, it was not a very logical show, and had numerous plot weirdnesses, but it was tight as heck and well paced, with characters that came at the story from their own perspectives which made it so entertaining and interesting to watch. |

Still dark and gritty but feels like another episode we have seen before. It all just seems very repetitive and the continuous flash backs don't help. I just hope they have added something new to the plot this season.

Back to a bit of meh again for me, alas.
The Russian stuff was far more interesting. Can't we have that, with the present day being the flash forwards instead? |

Well, not quite as good as the premier, but I'm sticking with it. I am slightly concerned by this new team though, cause it's evident to me that at some point Diggle and Thea will again become active members of the team; we've seen stills of them in costume (unless it's flashbacks, which I find unlikely). That begs the question to the new team, this magical fella isn't going to last, no doubt he'll return to his home town (sometime between getting a revamped costume). Am further curious on this new villain that wants to kill Ollie himself; presumably someone from his time in Russia. How fitting he's another Archer. Haven't we had enough of them yet?
![]() Is that also the same girl Ollie stopped from going on a murderous rampage last season? She's being set up as the next Canary? |

This is the first set of flashbacks I have actually been interested in, apart from Season 2 because of Slade... but the Bratva captain one is the flashbacks I've been waiting for
Though the opening episode was a really good one actually, plenty of story threads laid down to take the show forward, Ollie accepting things have to change, the new threat on the streets, the corruption in the SCPD being addressed so Ollie now has another set of guys on the inside with Quentin co-ordinating from the outside. The statue of Laurel was shocking though! But that was another good set up for Quentin's re-involvement and I thought the scene with him and Thea was very well done. Speaking of Thea, I thought Willa Holland did a great job with not much material in showing how conflicted she feels with Laurel's death, not wanting to put the Speedy suit back on etc. Interesting Felicity development at the end, is he going to turn out to be a secret baddie do we think?! Haven't seen Ep2 yet though, I'm serious behind in my watching. |

ep 2 wasn't so bad, nice and tight pacing. Glad felicity hasn't gone, in a way she's the most important member of the team.

Agree with both of those, think I will end up more surprised if he is not a baddie.

Just about to now!
Loving the Bratva flashbacks, best so far for me of any of the Lian Yu five missing years bits of Oliver's life and, as the flashbacks always do, mirror's what he's doing with his recruits. Instead of making the same mistake he did back then of getting the other potentials to work as a team, he's leaving the new guys alone to figure it out themselves. Then we get, as always, the subtle reminder of how the flashback's then have an effect on how Ollie does things now - he apologises, he realises Felicity (I'll come back to her in a bit) is right and he tells them who Green Arrow is. So, Felicity, thank gawd we're back to her being her usual kick ass supporting member of the team, smart self and the love/respect for Ollie is back to it's pre f*ck it up S4 levels. This is the Felicity of S1 & 2 and most of S3. Please can we keep her! Dig! ![]() Dig! ![]() Dig's in trouble but we know he'll get out of it somehow but he's facing a similar dilemma that Oliver is in - trust. He trusted the wrong people and his new recruit paid for it with his life so it will be interesting how quickly Dig is back in the Arrowcave following that dramatic development. So Prometheus is the mystery archer. Speculation is it may be Tommy Merlyn back from the dead (would Malcolm have had the balls to dig up his long dead son and shove him in a Lazarus Pit before Nyssa fouled them all?) but I hope not. There's been too many people coming back from the dead already. Unless its' going to be an effect of Barry's Flashpoint event and he weren't dead and believes Oliver just left him to die! But Prometheus is a DC supervillain with various incarnations so let's see where that's going as one of his versions is a small time conman working with Doctor Alchemy! Loved Ragman, really looking forward to seeing where they go with his character and which incarnation they're going to base him off. Also the wider team dynamics of Oliver's very much younger and inexperienced team, especially considering how S4 pretty much skipped over the nuclear fall out of Genesis Day in the last few episodes and how Rory and Felicity will interact. Also liking the subtle hints of magic/sorcery which is creeping even more into the Arrowverse. Loved the Thea/Quentin scenes again, liking this dynamic, Thea reminding Lance he's lost both his daughters and Thea similarly her father, but their shared bonds and love of Laurel is helping them heal each other and keep the other on the right path. |

Why would he go back to his home town? It's a Radioactive hole in the ground.
