I've seen a couple of people up in arms that we haven't had an interview yet so I thought we could have a poll

Don't care. But I also don't understand this attitude from some people *demanding* an interview as if he somehow owes the fans an explanation of what he's doing.

Me neither tbh, I just wanted to see how many people thought that he should.

He doesn't owe us an interview. Just good entertainment.

No, he should only do an interview because he wants to, not because anyone else thinks he should. Patience is a virtue and his 'vision' for the show as some people put it will become apparant in time. He doesnt owe the viewers or fans a thing. If you get bored waiting then take up a hobby.

I voted yes. Mainly because I would be interested in hearing his take on things. I believe he has a connection to the character of Sonia for example due to him storylining a lot of her early 00s stuff so I don't think its coincidence at all how she suddenly became great again within weeks of him taking over the show. Newman did similar with Kat.

No. He should stay an enigma. I'm beginning to enjoy the way he's got us guessing.

Personally I don't think viewers should even be aware when an EP changes.

Yes of course, he needs to let the viewers know what his vision is, as we have heard absolutely nothing from him.

However there is probably a lot going on behind the scenes that he is finalizing and it is not the right time to announce anything yet.

I am quite enjoying the more, um, dramatic posters on this forum getting more and more worked up about him not doing one yet so I've voted no. He really doesn't need to do one although I'd appreciate some sort of autumn teaser campaign soon.

I agree. Even though it's been years since I watched EE this could apply to any soap and soap producer. I really don't understand why so many people get so worked up over a fictional TV programme.

I agree, love the mystery surrounding the show and SOC at the moment, all we need is some teasers like you say and some trailers perhaps (Everyone's Talking About It - which they are ). I really don't get why we need to hear his 'vision' at all, just wait and see.

The thread about the OP posting it hating SOC was funny.

(Apologies, just voted yes in the poll, damn! Meant to say no )

It would be nice for people to know if he has plans that dont involve axing characters.

I don't really care, those interviews are only a work of self promotion. They always big themselves up and make promises about the show that fall rather flat in reality. The proof is in the pudding.

Exactly.

And the only purpose they serve for "fans" is for them to pre-deicide whether or not they are going to like something before they have all the facts and way before it even airs.

No, appeasing a tiny subsection of forum dwellers is the wrong thing to optimise for. The right thing to optimise for is producing good television.

Exactly. Only he's going around axing everyone and shaking things up and laughing as people freak out about it

As viewers we are actually entitled to know about future storylines as well as his plans and the direction he wants to take the show in.

If some of you don't have an interest that's fine but please don't try to take charge and speak for all of us! thank you

then again I dread to think that some of you will blast him as "egotistical" if or when he does! as has been done in the past!

No you're not.

You're perfectly entitled to want to know. You very respectfully say (and I appreciate it), "If some of you don't have an interest that's fine." And the same applies to you - if you DO have an interest, that's fine. But you don't have the right to know anything until it hits your TV screen, unless the producers, PR people etc, have decided they want you to know.

Great post but in the modern world and the way soaps and spoilers and instant information goes in the style it has he better be careful to take the audience with him rather than alienate them.

EDIT: There is a fine balance to be struck and I'm not convinced he's found it. He appears to have improved the writing which is great, what's not so great is that it is for character after character that has already been axed, therefore, almost utterly pointless

Haven't voted yet because I'm not sure my answer fits into a category.

The nearest would be 'Don't Care' but that's not entirely true.

I do care about the show, I would be interested to hear his views but....
I don't see why a Producer should have to do interviews just to appease the masses. Generally, interviews are used as.a stick to beat Producers by '"they promised this, that, the other" so why would any sane Producer do it.

I like surprises.

So I am happy with him keeping quiet.
