I think Sax would be better for a Cha Cha Cha, but I think the song suits Anastacia!

Love the INXS song and wanted it last year for Jay. They must be reading this forum (though not quickly enough!! ) Oti and Danny will be great I think.
Oh God .... knew we'd get a 'Jump' song. Hate that one in particular and hate 'Marvin Gaye' (the song ... not the man obvs.) Like the Alicia Keys song and the Cee-Lo Green. The rest .... meh!

perhaps when played as a tango is meh

Doris Day's version was in between a rumba and cha and we use the pussycat dolls version as a cha at the school often it will not need to be altered at all

I suppose "Jump" was inevitable. At least it's out of the way, although I don't envy Natalie having to set a tango to that.

melvin seems to be being stitched up. first of all we had janette's awful choreography that barely let him do anything last week and now we have a tango to an m people song? it's a shame because i think he is one of the better natural dancers there but they are not making it easy for him.

According to my dad (who was a good dancer back in his day) the original Doris Day tune is a classic bolero.

Hmm, will have too look up some of the songs but from the ones I know I'm not mad on the choices this week. One or two good ones but I do wish whoever chooses them would use a bit more imagination at times.

If you listen to the Paloma Faith cover you may see it more - I know lots of people don't like that version, but I do.

There's more sex in this version.

She can sing it live too. (A lot can't)

Yes bad enough but for a tango. It's just not suitable.
I like the INXS song for a VW. When you listen to it you can hear the tune swirling and twirling around ... it sweeps along.
Don't let me down Oti

It's sort of a very twee Foxtrot song so I imagine it'll be a Foxtrot AS.
It's a dismal dull foxtrot. Horrible and repetitive with no swing. Why do producers assume that anything in 4/4 time can be a foxtrot? They seem to have no feel for the dance.

At least Lesley and Anton have a safe and suitable choice for their cha cha, and they might go slightly sub tempo I suspect.

The Alma Cogan Banjo song for Katya and Ed sounds ok for a charleston. That's My Baby is probably ok too

Isn't Rock around the Clock a slower tempo jive?

I hope Naga has the swagger to pull off Fool In Love, but I'm not seeing it. Other than that the V. Waltzes probably have the best of it, music choice wise. Both popular songs that fit the music and which don't feel like overdone Strictly Style choices in the way that something like "Hot Stuff" or the Waltzes do (MORE BLOODY WHITNEY). The tango choices remain, as ever these days, horrific.

I just remember the great rumba scene from Strictly Ballroom, with this song. I can see how a slightly altered beat (i.e. the Pussycat Doll's version) would make a great (if slow) cha cha - but very suitable for Lesley. Good song choice, as is Will's - can hardly believe that old chestnut has never been used for a jive on this show. Absolutely perfect 50's jive theme, IMO. Can't stand the Marvin Gaye song, but I can see how it has a very simple to follow beat for a slightly more complex dance than just hip grinding, as per Judge Rinder's last dance! I suspect we'll see the limitations of his ability in this dance!

However, overall a decent bunch of song choices - except for the perennial inability to find decent tango songs! Actually, my favourite non-traditional tango song ever used, was in possibly one of the worst scored tangos ever(!) - Kate Garraway and Anton danced to 'They' by Jem. I seriously want someone to use that for a ballroom tango again (preferably someone who can score over 20 points for it!) - but it's an amazing, amazing song for that dance.

I think this year, with the potential to have so many celebs around the same standard for much of the time, the Tango and its choreo/music choices seems like a good one to get out the way early doors.

Cha's tend to be played too fast at times imo but teaching wise I find the pussycat doll track a good speed - so should be ok for Lesley. I loathe Rock around the clock as a Jive as I find the timing of the originnal track off - just too slow for jive - though I use it for rock and roll all the time in fact this track is one of my junior rock and roll classes favourite.

that track is not bad for a tango - that dance is probably the worst one for music choices on the show

Yes, exactly. We used to play it when I was learning a routine. I like it but would have expected Will to do something more uptempo and for it to be saved for someone like Ed say.

This is the one which jumped out at me - for EVERY wrong reason!

Potential dance-off for Melvin methinks...
