A few nice songs there, but a lot of bland ones, especially for the waltz. Love Tameka's Charleston music.

Have a feeling though that Karen has tended to favour a rock and roll vibe to her jives (bit like the feel of Kevin's last week) in the past?

I thought that Louise danced well last week, so i'm looking forward to watching her do the Viennese Waltz; i'm also interested in seeing how Ed & Tameka get on with their respective Charlestons.

Think it would make sense to pitch the dance with a 1950's vibe purely because of the music

Melvin and Janette are Moving on up, moving on out of Strictly with that song. Never let it be said that dance training will get you far on Strictly, cos if that cha cha is anything to go by Melvin cannot dance! janette's choreography wasn't helping matters.

Precisely - sounds more Cha cha Cha to me...

For Louise & Kevin, Alexandra Burke's interpretation would have been better for the rousing end. But, being the X-Factor Winners Song that year may have ruled that one out

In Janette's defence she is probably doing what she can with what she's got to work, i.e. not much! Same applied last year when people slaughtered her for poor choreo on Peter Andre's appalling jive, and then it turned out he had about 5 minutes to learn the routine.

Sorry Melvin, seems a nice bloke and all, but looking like a crap dancer.

Thank goodness the return of the way too literal song chocies and bizarre tango songs. I was getting worried after Week 1.

Jump and Moving On Up are slightly 'out-there' (i.e. awful) choices for a Tango. Still better than 'Stop' though.

I feel for both Lesley and Melvin, the song choices for the dances they have been given are appalling !

I have just listened to both tracks as I wondered if I was thinking of different music / songs, but Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps could possibly stretch to a Tango but not a Cha Cha and a Tango to M People moving on up ???? the mind boggles. I do have to applaude the pros for choreographing dances to some of the music choices, as we know the producers have more input in song choices, it breaks my heart though when the judges then judge the pro & celeb on the fact that maybe the music doesn`t suit the dance and there isn`t enough content bah blah bah because the music doesn`t fit the dance.

we use the perhaps perhaps pussycat dolls as a cha for the beginner class all the time - it's more a cha cha than a tango

If anyone googles cha cha cha and perhaps perhaps on the internet (or quizas quizas), there are a number of cha cha chas danced to it, including those by top level dancers and including the pussycat dolls version. It is a fairly popular cha cha cha. Furthermore, it is really easy for beginners to pick up the cha cha cha (4 and 1) beat in the music. And it lends itself to a bit of story telling. I'd be very happy to get that music if I were Lesley.

However Melvin dances, and Janette choreographs, neither can blame the music. Moving On Up is not a favourite tune of mine by any means, but it is a regularly used, in schools, studios and competitions, "proper" ccc piece.

There's also a great show version for a rumba.

Shame that they are supposed to do a tango to it, then...
