When she was going through her troubles I honestly thought she wouldn't survive it. That she's still here and performing in any way, shape or form and seems happy to do so is a huge thing to me Considering what she went through and how you can see at times even now how her confidence is not what it was I do think people want too much from her.[

If someone is not able to perform then don't perform/charge for the privilege. Would you get away with this in your employment?

I think that's the thing. Of course it's really great that she came through that dark period and is in a happy place again. But really, considering how much she is paid - it's ridiculous what she gets away with. It would be one thing if she could dance, but she can't anymore. It looks hella awkward and it's just taking the piss to be honest.

Tbh as much as her music is a guilty pleasure, I would never pay to see her live. She's a mediocre performer at best and I think excusing her poor performance skills just because she was ill 10 years ago is a bit condescending towards her.

If people are silly enough to buy the tix, why not? Nobody has a gun to their head.

Difference being people choose to pay to see her so your comment is highly irrelevant, if people was fed up and so on then they would abondon her but they stick by her.

But she can still dance, may not be up to the level she used to be how you can say she can't dance is beyonce me, if she can't dance then I want to dance like her. She broke did some serious damage to her knee in 2004 and is too conscientious about hurting it again, keep in mind that any rehearsal videos we've seen of her in recent times show that she can still dance, it all comes down to confidence.

I'm sorry it's just not good dancing regardless of previous injuries. She is stiff as a board and it's the same tired moves again and again. She was a talented dancer when she was younger, and had fluidity behind her movements but I see much better dancing at clubs and bars and I'm not saying that to be mean.

I would love Britney to prove everybody wrong and come out and do well but I just can't get over the lack of effort and how she gets away with it. There's no passion coming from her, no clear desire to improve or even be good at her craft. She doesn't sing live, her performances are awkward, stiff and samey. Yes she was very ill, and I know that it could have gone a much darker road but these are not reasons to give her a free pass. Nobody makes her go in the public eye - she chooses to continue this career and so she should be up for criticism. She gets paid millions of dollars to half arse it - I'm never going to excuse mediocrity and that's exactly what she is right now.

I'm in the classical music industry - imagine if orchestras just mimed to a recording, or for example if an actor in the theatre just mimed along to a soundtrack, hit the marks on stage but nothing else. It would be ludicrous. The pop music industry has such low standards and I just wish the bar would be raised a little bit.

I was a kid in the late 90s and she was my favourite pop star. I followed some of her stuff through the 00s too and I was so glad to see her get through to the other side when she was ill. It could have all ended so tragically.

With all of that said though, I completely agree with your post.

Thanks she was also my favourite when I was younger and I always check out any new stuff she releases, just in case the hype turns out to be legit. I just want her to be good. I hate lip-synching but if she was actually dancing properly and well I'd complain a bit less. It's just the mediocrity of it all I hate - she's super famous and paid insanely well for basically riding on her early years, and it's just not a high enough standard. People should only be famous for being the best in their fields and Britney certainly isn't. The more people buy into this averageness and accept it, than the lower the overall standard in pop will go.

You aren't obliged to love everything an artist does just because you're a fan. In some ways one could argue you're entitled to point things out more because you're a fan.

Surprised she hasn't paid for a Michael Jackson style peppers ghost to be made of her so she can use at Vegas so she doesn't have to sing or dance.

She's taken too much criticism for her vocals over the years for her to have enough confidence to sing live. And I really don't think she can sing like she could earlier in her career so I don't see that ever changing.

I've seen her in concert a few times and could forgive the miming because her dancing was amazing and she put on a great show. Now however I wouldn't pay much to see her because her dancing is weak and she just has a lot of gimmicks in her show to cover up that she's actually not doing much. That said, she has come on leaps and bounds in recent years which is lovely to see, especially her confidence on stage and in interviews.
