Aftermath S01 US Pace
koantemplation

Not sure if it is worth doing a US Pace thread as I suspect this will be a one season show and most people will watch at UK pace.

Anyway I thought the first episode was pretty good. Action packed with some pretty good action.

Just a shame it has to focus on a family, and an annoying one at that.

The show needs to move the plot on to survive though. No 'Situation of the week' episodes which don't move the plot on.

I've got a feeling it could be the Rapture rather than alien invasion.

I don't get the annoying feeling towards the family. I know when I tried the not-Walking-Dead spin-off I detested them, especially the druggie - he's dead by now, right ?!. With this family I can imagine watching them for the next batch of eps at least. Let's see where the series is headed. As to Rapture rather than Aliens - maybe a bunch of aliens got a hold of that book (Amazon deliver off planet, right ?!) and are following the directions.

Nope, if anything, it's likely he'll out-survive every other family member. To be fair, his character development has been one of the better on the show at the moment (though it's not as if the rest of the family have come very far).

- while I like character development, when a cast member so grates on me I don't give too hoots if they're shown to turn their whole life around and be a good member of society and goes on to save the world and a barrel load of kittens - I just think "screw'm" and watch something else.

Yeah they are definitely using revelations as a script, but if that's a misdirect or maybe some alien force playing it out is a possibility I guess. Though the modern tenancy is simply to leave it ambiguous.

Anyway though I thought it was a bit ropey to start with I was quite enjoying it by the end of the episode - will definitely stick with it

Was half expecting to see that this was an Asylum production

Not sure on this one yet but will give it another episode or two.

Pretty sure there's a scientific explanation behind (some) things.

Note how the guy who kidnapped Brianna was back to his normal self when they first woke up in the woods.

It was only when the phone network briefly started working again (we heard Brianna's phone beep) that he became possessed again by the Spirit/demon/alien/skinwalker.

Do the Skinwalkers (will stick with this for now ) need the phone network to travel into people?

What rubbish! Was told by a colleague that the pilot episode was quite good, so thought I'd give it a try. It was trash. Family drama, daughter gets kidnapped, family seem unfazed and decide to leave their home, girl comes across weird cops, gets in car anyway, realizes they're mad, doesn't attempt to flee, rescues (and rides off with) a killer.

Still not sure if this is just bad or so bad its good territory at the moment.

It needs a bit more tongue in its cheek IMO.

The daughter who is on her own is just annoying.

The dragon taking the horse at the end was about the best thing.

Feeling better about the gun totting daughter, the older chicken releasing sister is a dink, the brother was getting annoying - good to see him facing the consequence of his rush to judgment, dragon yay.

Well sadly this is getting into 'so bad it's just bad' territory.

The daughters really are annoying and TBH the family are almost as bad as the family in Fear the Walking Dead. Not a single one I would care about if killed.

It needs more comedy if it wants to go down the route it is going.

recent ep (last one in October)

when she opened the door and saw the Banshee, I was expecting her to shut it, reopen it and be faced with a normal gal going "oops, my bad, I had something in me throat" (or something equally hilarious), cos as it stands that bit could be where the show jumped the shark for me cos, after the dragons and spectres emerging from just killed people, well it was kinda bleh..

You really don't want to become romantically involved with this family (or involved full stop really)

He'll probably climb out of the Volcano next week with "Mom" on his back, get her safely back to the rest of the family and then get killed by Mothra.

Yes but you can't help watching just to see how much worse it can get.

Wouldn't surprise me if they had Krampus for a Christmas special.
