O2 haven't ported my number over from Giffgaff - having no joy - advice please?
On Friday afternoon, I got my pac code from Gifgaff and filled a form out on the o2 website to move my number over.
This was supposed to happen Monday....nothing has happened. After three chats online with their customer representives, the inept behaviour of the o2 shop staff which put me online to an Indian call centre who said it was ready to be done today, I'm still without a number. Not everyone in my family uses messenger and VOIP apps, my landlord has this number and I need to apply for jobs etc. Is there anyway I can get them to speed it up with some compensation or shall I just concede defeat and adopt this temp number as my new number? It's so annoying. |

Don't concede defeat, not least because the port will probably then happen and you'll lose the temporary number.
Chase it up via the O2 Executive Office... or perhaps someone on here has a good contact number for a UK based higher-level team? On a broader point, it's disappointing that ports do seem to go wrong too often. Of course in the big picture the majority go through successfully, but it does seem to often that one hears about a port that has gone wrong. The whole process is supposed to be fairly frictionless. The fact it doesn't always work cannot inspire consumer confidence, and damages the notion of competition in the marketplace. The current situation is not good enough - the whole system should be working nigh-on perfectly by now. |

Just out of interest, why did you port from GG to O2? That seems an odd decision....

I wonder if it was due to the data performance being so much better on O2 SIMs than on giffgaff. As a rule, I find download speeds are about 10 times higher on O2 than on giffgaff, which is most notable in busy areas at peak times of day.

My reason to moving to 02 is the data speeds (sadly I can only afford a £10 bundle with 500MB) and the fact most of my family are on the network.
I still haven't had my number ported. Their customer service is shocking, I've asked via the chat and fobbed off with false promises. What could it be? |
