If you plan on voting online on Saturday do check your BBC ID - they have changed things.

Make sure you can sign in OK.

If you haven't used the site recently you'll get asked for extra info. Which isn't something you want to be faced with when trying to vote quickly!

Thanks for reminding me, especially since I'd forgotten my password.

All sorted now.

Yes, I noticed this yesterday when I tried to sign in to enter the competition for two Strictly final tickets.

It took me a minute or two, so it's worth doing before the show starts.

I initially had trouble because it asks for your Username when really it wants your Signing In name.

Then, the next time I logged in, it wouldn't take either name and I had to use my email address!

I couldn't log in either. Kept saying 'your email address doesn't look right'. I know my email address is right. I still can't log in so not bothering. I'm sure I wouldn't have been the lucky one to win tickets anyway. Hope it doesn't mean I won't be able to vote

Thanks for the heads-up re this!

Better to get it sorted out ahead of going in to vote on Saturday nigh!

The site has changed the sign-in procedure, so that, as you say, it now requires your e-mail address rather than letting your enter a username instead!

Thanks this would have been annoying when I'm in a rush trying to vote on Saturday.

Just "bumping" this post to raise awareness that there are slight changes to the login procedure for the BBC site.

I had this problem. Make sure that it's not automatically adding a space at the end of your email address, it's what was happening to me. Deleted the space and got signed in, no trouble.

Thanks for that. I had forgotten both my password and the email address I used to sign in some years ago. I have re-registered after much kerfuffle

Huge thanks for this. What a palaver.

I signed in and used my email, instead of my user name as I had done previously.

All fine.... signed out, then couldnt get back in, cos it didnt like my password.

gggrrr ........ glad I got it sorted tonight and not tomorrow

thanks again

Thanks for the warning. I did it tonight and thank goodness I did, if I had left it to the last minute I would never have got in in time. First of all it said my user name and password didn't match, then I tried with my email instead and it said 'someone is already using that email' - well duh me!! I eventually ended up having to change my password - to the same as I had already been using. I don't even know what actually worked to get me that far I had tried so many different ways by then. I am in, hopefully, but will check it again tomorrow before it starts.

Thanks. I tried to log in yesterday and had huge problems. I eventually reset my password to the one I was already using and it worked on about the third log in attempt.
I tried it again this morning just to be on the safe side and if was still working, thank goodness.

Bumping - good call, if you used to login via Facebook or Twitter, you can no longer do so. Takes about mins to complete registration - not what you want after a few glasses of wine and a couple of turns on the spinny chair!

I eventually got in. The problem was I had to type in my email address and not just pick it up from the predicted email even though it was identical and that's what I do for any other site. Thanks all for the tips. I can now vote tonight

I had the same problem.

Didn't know I;d been signed out by the BBC until I went to see what the voting procedure was.

Then I couldn't match my screen name/user name and password, so tried again with my email address. Still couldn' , so requested change of password via email. Then signed in with email and was asked for my post code. The problem could have been could have been because I'd forgotten I had a capital letter in the middle of by user name, but as others have been having problems too, possibly not..

They want our postcodes - because of the new iPlayer rules? I think that's what it's all about.

It's a shame they haven't flagged up this change. I suspect there will be a lot of frustrated people tonight.

Thanks for the alert.

I didn't have any problems once I'd dug out my password, although they did ask for a couple of bits of extra info (postcode and am I under/over 18). Good to be ready though!

Just been reading through the voting information on the Strictly web site. Think there'll be a lot of frustration tomorrow night - there'll be very many tried to get signed in. It says everyone who signed in last year MUST sign in again before voting because they've made upgrades to your BBC account.

I signed in to iPlayer last week (bit pathetic - "Have you got a TV license? "Yes"), but I still had to sign in again to Strictly yesterday.

At least we still have three votes on line.

This has only happened within the last week as I login weekly to log my Premier League predictions - last week was fine but it asked me for extra information yesterday.

Thank you for the thread, though. Hopefully people will pick this up prior to voting.
