I'd have left off the joke duet Dancing in the Street (it served its purpose and raised money in 1985, let's leave it there) and the dirgey and overrated Where Are We Now? comeback single, and instead include the underrated '80s Bowie song Loving the Alien and the rare, full length version of Absolute Beginners.

Is this meant to be a greatest hits compilation?
They've also missed off Young Americans and John I'm only dancing, which I consider to be 2 of his best. Also Modern love, (not one of my favourites) but wasn't it one of his biggest hits? |

looks a crap tracklisting to me. mainly as it's edits instead of full versions and then having newer mixes instead of the original period mixes
the new boxset is better. the glouster is great. no need to have the other stuff for the umpteenth time though, but if that's what it takes to get the glouster then so be it |

All the singles from the Let's Dance album were big hits. Then he spent the rest of the '80s on a commercial slide with only the occasional really big hit (Blue Jean, Dancing in the Street, Absolute Beginners). Absolute Beginners was actually his last really big international hit despite the fact it was attached to a disastrous film. Nothing from Labyrinth or Never Let Me Down set the charts alight and he was getting a right critical panning at this point too. Bowie was later equally dismissive of this period of his career and called it his "Phil Collins years".
. I don't mind some of the late 80s stuff though he did lose his way a bit. On a shallow note, he looked lovely at that time too. I remember him referring to the late 80s as his "Phil Collins years" in a Jonathan Ross interview. It did make me chuckle. 😂 |

![]() He called the '80s "artistically and aesthetically my lowest point". Artistically, perhaps, aesthetically, surely not? He looked far healthier than he did at times in the '70s when he was dabbling in every drug available to him. |

For me 90s Bowie was HAWT!
A lot of men start to let themselves go in their 40s-50s but Bowie looked GOOD!! ![]() ![]()

I agree (in a totally non-gay way I might add).
