Because Greg Rucka says so....

Not that there is anything wrong with that and does make sense, interesting how this comes out now? Guess DC needs to bolster WW ticket sales...

Why is every other superhero beng reconfigured as gay, lesbian,,bi?

I appreciate more societies accept gosh marriage etc, but is their still an insecurity, political point trying to be made?

Wonder Woman is from Themyscira, a beautiful land where women thrive aside from men... I'm pretty sure lesbian relationships were considered the norm just as bluesdiamond seems to feel being heterosexual is the norm here

Ok. Shes bi. Some think were all bi.

But with diana, surely its less to do with sexuality and more to do with the society shes from.

Paradise island is not a heteronomative society. Its a society that culturally has only one physical gender....

As far as I'm concerned, she is not Bisexual. Until the actual creators of Wonder Woman say she is (they can't since they're dead), then any stories involving her being Bisexual will be boxed into my mind in the fan-fiction section.

Iceman, Alan Scott (Green Lantern)....that's about it. Every other hero is the grand total of two and even Scott is another universe version of him so it's not like they revised the golden age version as gay.

Other than dedicated fans of the character no one moaned when Marvel announced that their version of Hercules was straight conflicting a previous story which established (similar to the actual myth) he was bi.

Wasn't he always gay? At least he was depicted as gay since his early appearances.

It's a retrofitting cop-out with many of them to try and seem more modern.

But... Wonder Woman is one of the few where it makes total sense, because she lived on an island with nothing but women for hundreds of years before she left (and the rest of the Amazons had been there thousands).

So really nobody (unless they are homophobic or bisexualphobic) should really care, since it's hardly a revelation that she is, nor does it really change anything. Versus other heroes where it is and does, where I can understand some level of moaning and groaning. I thought Iceman, from the X-Men being revealed recently as secretly gay was just kind of lame, for example. Not inherently unbelievable I suppose, but indeed one of those cases where it almost seemed random.

But WW? Not so.

Have you ever read the original maulton marston wonder women?????

I suspect her creator would be sooooo cool with this. Charles maulton marston, a psychologist who also invented aspects of lie detector.

He was also heavily into bondage, in fact diana cant go more then 3 pages wthout being tied down. And he was in an open 3-way realtionship with his wife and another woman they both had sex with.....

What makes you think mualton-marston wouldnt be okay with this????

It's not that I don't think he'd be ok with it, it's that since he created her he should be the one to dictate what something like her sexuality should be, since he isn't around to do that then I don't think they should be touching it, Greg Rucka saying she's bisexual means nothing. He didn't create her, so he doesn't get a say as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I suspect a man who lived in a menage a trois and advocated sexual openness (OOOH! ) would be unlikely to object to Wonder Woman being Bisexual. Given our modern knowledge of sexology, it'd be more unusual to have a single-gender society without any homosexual relationships taking place there (think women's prisons and convents).

So you must have been equally unhappy when Superman married Lois Lane, Robin become Nightwing etc etc. After all that was nothing to do with the original creators either.

Based on that absurdity I'm surprised you can read any comics at all.

Oh please, those things are completely different to something you are born as, Superman wasn't born married to Lois, Robin wasn't born Nightwing. Wonder Woman was BORN straight, and has been straight for a long time, to change it now in the light of all the political correctness in the world and with DC trying to gain hype for the upcoming movie, it just seems tacky and like they're trying to check off the demographic boxes. If they suddenly made Superman a woman or Nightwing a Martian THEN I'd have a problem with it, because they're changing one of the fundamental parts of a character.

Hasn't WW two different origin stories? Being made by Queen Hippolyta vs. being the
daughter of Zeus. She can be changed if DC Comics wish.

Wonder what other comics characters might be bi? I'm going with Dale Arden. Because she seems to really like catfighting with Princess Aura.

They liked Kim & Kim though

I agree its a little cliché, i fact it seems to follow the first issue of the first trans-lead superhero comic i had in my head.

But i think whoever wrote the first transgender superhero comic would of had to gone down this avenue, whatever.

I think it could really grow into something....

I could be totally wrong here , going out on a limb so to speak,,,,,but heres my theory anyhow

Bottom line , money talks ,,,, as with most things in life

If the target demographic for the comics/movies are young adolescent males , then from a purely financial point of view , it makes sense to stir in a little bi-Sexual titillation hype , to put bums in seats

Im not saying its right , but its a fact of life

As a young male the mere hint that ww may get it on with another girl ets ,,,,, sets the pulses racing .

I apologize if my post offends anyone , ,,,, just how i see it from a money point of view
