Are they good friends or share a past somewhere? Is it a loan or a gift?

Martin's family, as Jane and Ian both said and implied a few times over the last couple eps. They usually do family favours for each other, Martin helping Ian/Jane out when he can and vice versa

Ian is Martin's cousin and decided to help him out financially. Jane is obviously married to Ian so family too and suggested selling her car for the money as she can't drive anymore. Actually just had a thought, was that the car she used to transport Lucy's body 😳

Okay, thanks, I didn't know they were related. Ian is usually a bit of a tight-arse, surprised he went along with the plan.

Re: the car . I bet they didn't disclose that bit to the buyer.

no, she replaced the car (I think before the reveal) - they got a yellow car, while the car that she used to transport Lucy was blue

Martin is a good lad, he helps when he can. He really wanted this new house, to do something for his family.

At least it stopped slimy Steven from getting his hands on it.

I did enjoy his almost comedic grimace when he had to hand it over to Martin.

You could just see his mind coming up with ways to not have the money get to the bank, pretend robbery, etc.

I'm enjoying Steven's revenge/betrayal (whichever it is) ticking away in the background. It couldn't happen to a more deserving couple. 😂

She was so impressed with their one night stand, she felt he was worth paying for.

Yes, Ian's dad Pete, and Martin's mum Pauline, were siblings.

She did it because she's still trying to clear her conscience for covering up her stepdaughters murder and then dumping her body in the common

And so we the viewers forget about the murder and think instead what a kind salt of the earth person she is.

It's glorious isn't it? I think we're meant to see Steven as the bad guy but I'm totally on his side here. Just hope it isn't leading to his exit.

Ian traded Jane's blue Micra in for a different car Xmas 2014, a few weeks before he found out the truth about what had happened to Lucy.

Theyk3e just doing a favour for family - that's all. To be fair, Martin has stood by them through the reveal of Bobby being Lucy's killer and there was all that business about poauline trying to cut Martin out of he will in Ian's favour so maybe he feels he owes him.

Maybe Ian felt a bit guilty that he got given "Martin's" house in Pauline's will because she was being petty about Sonia.

I think it's nice that they acknowledge the family connections like this, especially for the 'core' family of Eastenders if you will

I'd almost entirely forgotten Martin grew up there! That tiny living room/dining room... the fruit bowl..

Did you really not know the Beales and Fowlers are the same family?

Because that's what sociopaths do, they try to create a false sense of trust and generosity to be leveraged for their own manipulative purposes.

Lock her up.
