I just googled "Anastacia Injured" with a time frame of last 24 hours. Simply to see if there was anything anywhere about what her injury actually is, how it was caused etc.

Third on the list is a link to this thread, spelling out in the narrative that there is no DO!

Anastacia & Melvin bottom two, Melvin eliminated on lowest public vote as there was no dance off due to Anastacia's injury.

I think it is the shows obsession with elimination that causes controversial decisions. Without this all sorts of scenarios are possible. However, one thing to bear in mind, is people have paid to vote and with the paid vote system a decision has to be made as to elimination. Therefore, the fall back option has to be the least favourite with the public.

All I can say is I am glad I worded the title of the thread the way I did. Google does not care about the answers pulled up when searches are done. After that it is the choice of the searcher to view a particular Google suggestion.

Its appearance on google is more down to how DS lists on search engines than the fault of anyone's comments on a forum, where I think the majority of us do work in good faith to keep the spoiler contained in here as opposed to galloping with glee to the main thread.

Think it would be very harsh if the moderators punished the thread. the DS techies need to put nofollows on spoiler threads in general to make them uncrawlable...

My 13 year old daughter cannot understand why they did not defer the elimination and have 2 people eliminated next week which would have been a lot fairer on Melvin & Anastasia.

I don't think this season will be as good as some as a lot of the contestants (Danny, Daisy etc) are just too good for week 2.

I agree with this - it sets a strange precedent, but I suppose if anyone was going to take advantage of it in future they would need to feel pretty sure that they came above the other person in the public vote. As you say, it doesn't sound like Anastacia is going to recover enough to dance properly in future weeks and if she now withdraws it's doubly unfair on Melvin.

Agreed. What annoyed me was not that the title of the Spoiler Thread came up and people can ignore it if they wish, but that there was details underneath on the front page saying there was no DO.

I guess I am just protective of this thread and the lovely people who make it possible, and don't want that to be compromised.

Wasn't it last year it was all over the web(including a certain online newspaper who hates the Beeb) who go evicted and they must have got it here?

Shocked it was not the Balls who went. Melvin had room to improve, they should have cancelled the eviction and given both a pass.

Re google picking up the spoiler for search results I'm not too sure if there is anything DS can or will want to do. In theory they could tell search engines not to index but they don't always listen and I'm not sure if the forum software will allow them to do that on a single thread.

They also aren't likely to want to do that as it means they'll lose search engine ranking to their main competitor for search traffic for the spoiler

Thanks for that really interesting to say they can do what they want, people going on about right or wrong , that's what happened in guessing after main show she went to Drs and said about dance off and they said no, they couldn't afford a law suit

Thanks to all for the spoiler. I do wonder if Anastacia's injury is due to one of her previous medical conditions and she doesn't want it broadcast, as she is trying to be a positive role model for cancer survivors. Her health issues may have made the BBC more cautious about forcing a dance off than with other injured contestants.

Perhaps they got Judge Rinder to read out the Ts and Cs of voting and elimination to fill in some of time instead of the dance off.

There's not much money in the voting and they don't use it for charity. It doesn't take long either, they want to shoot the result show and go home. Bad news for Anastacia is that there were four people below her on the leaderboard and she still ended up in the DO. She can make it further only if she performs well and gets higher on the leaderboard which can be difficult depending on her injury. Although the way Brendan was throwing her around it might not have been too serious. I can understand she does not want to give up, but maybe she should.

Unfortunately in this thread after the results post comes up it is quoted or re posted so many times on each page of the thread that it will be picked up by the google bots ( or whatever they are called). Perhaps we shouldn't quote the results posts so many times and just say what we want to say without quoting it.

As it appeared that Will was injured after the dance as well then it should have been announced at the beginning of the results that their would be no dance off due to injuries to various dancers and to make it fair to everyone tonight would be public vote only, Not pull them both out and then say that because one couple are not able to dance etc etc. Both through and double elimination the following week

It does go to charity. In the Q&A's for voting it states:-

"Does the BBC receive any revenue from the calls?

No. BBC does not receive any revenue. Revenue from the calls (if any) goes to charity."

I wish I could have joined more last night but could not get on the board at all just kept crashing, I also googled Anastacia injury and saw the result which has never happened before and that was a shame. Apparently Lesley Joseph complained that the result was leaked as well.


It will be interesting to hear Tess explaining that Anastacia cannot dance because the injury she had 'last night' hasn't got any better.

Tbf, Melvin was probably the worst dancer last night so his elimination was not unexpected.

No, it really doesn't. Not even slightly.

Those who follow the spoiler thread (and anyone who bothers to find out even if they do not want to know the result) can reason that whatever pain blockers Anastacia may have been using to deal with dancing on the main show, can wear off and be unsafe to repeat just to do a dance off. Very difficult to justify this if you are trying to appear to be on a new day.

Maybe they will have to announce the results show is recorded on Saturday night.

I have never understood why they act like it's live when everyone knows it's recorded Saturday and there's nothing wrong with that, of course in a perfect world we would go back to the Saturday results show which I loved, it was my dinner break and then back to Strictly

This is an interesting one, and I do think that they were probably hoping Anastacia would get enough votes to survive. Yet taking it back to the public vote seems fair enough if she couldn't do the dance, as it would be all they had to go on- It's a bit tough on Melvin but unless he was with Ed I don't think he''d have survived a dance off anyway
They must be hopeful Anastasia will recover enough though
